I just tanked LFR Jailer for the first time and was a bit nervous as it’s the last boss of the expansion. I read the dungeon journal and the WoWHead guide and they mentioned a mechanic where during phase 2 the boss will raise pillars from the ground and the tanks are in charge of breaking them as part of the phase 2 tank swap. As far as I could tell, this never happened. I saw some of the hexagon outlines of pillars glowing a different color, but they never came out of the floor.
Was the encounter bugged, or is this mechanic just not in the raid finder difficulty? I only ask because it’s still listed in the dungeon journal (whereas other removed mechanics such as Sludgefist’s chains aren’t in it for raid finder difficulty).

Nah. No pillars to break in phase 2 for LFR is completely intended. Let’s be real here. Breaking pillars would be far too complicated for average LFR tank.
If only they removed certain other mechanics from other LFR bosses to make them more easier…

The mode is already afk and win, there’s nothing left to remove.
No knockbacks. No tank soaks. No pillars to break. P3 lasts forever. The whole raid would need to be AFK in order to wipe on LFR Jailer.
Jailer LFR barely requires tanks at all. After P1 is over, all the mechanics are gone, it’s just a slow burn because dps is low.
I always find it surprising how people can manage to do less dps in LFR fated raids than I did as a fresh level 60 in the beginning of shadowlands.
Inspecting them is the worse part of it. People just aren’t even trying. I was on my Ret in there, 6th on DPS, doing a 4.5k-5k, with no tier, no legendaries, no Unity, overall ilvl 240 but a 285 weapon. Which is what you’d expect post-Nathria damage to be.
People decked in 260+ gear with full tier, legendaries, doing 2k. Come on, push buttons. I saw a Warrior, fully geared, 7 Mortal Strike casts on Hallondrus. 7. Push the button.
There are just certain mechanics that should not be in LFR because they cause too much trouble. The Jailer imo is a perfectly designed LFR final boss fight.
Lords of Dread on the other hand shouldn’t have cloud of carrion in LFR. People are just kind of too dumb to cleanse it with the fear circle and it just puts too much pressure on the healers.

They did my boy dirty, he literally has no mechanics left.
If you want target dummies, at that point, probably the game mode shouldn’t even drop gear. Or just put the loot in a box at the start and show you pictures of the bosses instead of have you fight them.
Anduin at least kept some mechanics around, even if it’s not much.
He has plenty of mechanics to keep an average LFR player on their toes.
Runes for all phases are still important and are only easy if dealt with correctly.
You’d be surprised how many players fall into a hole or off the edge because they weren’t paying attention with their rune knockback in phase 1 or thinking runes in phase 2 are the runes from phase 1. Can lead to a wipe if too many die to that.
It’s better to have it like this and not have another /shudder… LFR N’zoth fight.

LFR Jailer is literally just a target dummy, the rune explosions don’t hit for much and can just be healed through.
Rune bomb knocks you up and backwards. That can lead you off the edge or into a hole if you were positioned wrong…
The only knockback left in the fight is the tank soak in P1 that isn’t in LFR.
Raiimir I’m positively sure that the rune bomb in PHASE ONE is a personal knockback. It’s a core mechanic for phase 1 in all difficulties of the fight including LFR. It’s needed to escape the hole when you drop into it so it HAS to be in LFR.
That’s not a knockback. The only reason you go a bit back is so you don’t go up and then right back down the hole you jumped in. To die to that, you have to do it almost on purpose because of how little it moves you on the X plane.
The actual knockbacks were all removed from the fight long ago.
Yes I know the other knockbacks were removed. Rune bomb in phase 1 still classifies as a knockback because it moves the debuffed character backwards when it explodes. We are done here.
Or just don’t run it into the hole, it does almost no damage on LFR.

Still want those pillars to prevent mind control.
Not a single pillar = Everyone gets mind controlled. Everyone mind controlled = Instant wipe.
Ok the fight has one mechanic on LFR, cool. They should make LFR harder, then add a solo story mode with no gear drops for the people who want to see the story.
