Ragnaros will be Dead in the First Week

Going to be a good time when they do it in 2-3 weeks and are completely burnt out and leave for 6 months or more =)

To be fair I hope to have Molten Core down pretty quick after launch myself.

I just plan on making alts while I’m not raiding.

Plus, somebody is going to have to guide those lunatics that I call my friends through low level dungeons =P

Probably not. But if he is who cares? Normal people don’t really care. That’s just a little anecdote to anyone else not involved. And to those doing it I hope they don’t kill over. Because they could. That’s extremely unhealthy and people have died on comparable gaming binges.

Sure, but the people in the top guilds aiming for these world firsts will find that aspect easy. These guilds have multiple times the members needed for a full raid group that have already pulled off similar marathons for opening weeks on past servers. These are guilds full of players that often pull off that level of grind when aiming for Rank 14 in their pre-mades. Sure, there will be a few guilds with members that fall asleep and end their attempts in failure. Those are the guilds that simply won’t be world/server first.

Guys who try to beat 10+ year old content in a single week… are there really a lot of these guys around? How is this fun?

I covered most of those in my 2nd point, but can go into more specifics. The speed-levelers practicing for the lv.60 race know those things. They aren’t turning dynamic spawning on for their servers. As I mentioned, they adjust for inaccuracy and test multiple variables for when something is unknown.

For gear, it is relatively quick to get mostly pre-bis, and it isn’t a secret that even that isn’t needed to down Molten Core. You are correct in assuming that private servers are inaccurate with NPC stats, but it isn’t in the way that you think it is. Did you know that private server bosses are mostly overtuned? Private servers have all generally went with the highest estimate for trying to get the most difficult and enjoyment out of content. So, if anything, Molten Core will be a tad to quite a bit easier than what hardcore players are used to.

As for whether a person can get by on 3 hours a night of sleep for a week, I covered it already, but I think that any working adult can attest to that (such as myself last week ).

There wont be a lot of them, but enough that some people will try it and that some guild will probably have Ragnaros dead by week 2.

Some people just find it fun to speedrun games.

Though I’m not someone who is going to beat MC in the first two weeks. I’m so pumped for this old game that I’m going to take a week off and play 10+ hours a day, so I sort of have the same mindset as these people.

To me it will be fun to get ahead of a pack and get into a top server guild and always be on the cutting edge of content. I leveled two characters to 60 in vanilla, I don’t need to re-experience the “journey”. I will be having fun ganking people questing and grinding gold when I’m at cap before most.

That can be farmed in a day by simply killing trash and avoiding bosses, then running out and letting it reset after an hour.

Definitely. Check out Awesome Games done Quick or speedrun dot com. The speedrunning community is millions strong, and the Classic WoW race is only a very small part of it.

As for fun, that is subjective. You may not have fun, but I do, and many others. Everyone enjoys different things, so let’s play differently and all have fun!

Your calculation are based on everyone being a hunter.

Technically it’s possible with 40 top end players all working together for that single goal. I never heard of an entire 40-man guild speed leveling together back in Vanilla, and if they were all the top .01% skill wise and ground out the hydraxian rep, they could probably down Rag week 1. It would be a pretty miserable experience though, unless you’re into not sleeping for 7 days and following a very strict schedule for each step of the process.

If some company wanted to pay 40 Chinese dudes to do it for the advertising, it would definitely happen.

I can see it now “hey guys I’m trying to clear MC this week let me have all the spawns so I’m able to do that” everyone bows down and let’s 40 people have spawns. Not going to happen.

People did Rank 14 back in the day, so I wouldn’t put it past some guild to try this.

Are you guys taking into account not only is your Private server Pre-Raid BiS list not entirely complete because DireMaul is flat missing, but also that you’re going to be sorely lacking in flasks?

Also the Loot tables used in Phase 1, are those from early Vanilla, not the 1.12 loot tables… They are claiming that they’re going to use 1.12 Itemization, so that is a mark in your corner that will help.

How are you going to cope with the lack of hit and required +fire resist for your tank VS Rag? Even if you exploit the FR buff out of BlackRock, you’re still in need regardless.

Also the fact that Speed levelers are not raiders, especially the sub set of the sub set that would be “speed clear” raiders…

I can see that there are a small % of speed levelers that are indeed raiders, but are there enough that they would be willing to not only all roll on an agreed realm but also play with others on this one and done project that they would likely abandon for their actual friends / guild?

I just see the logistics of this whole concept being the real problem making it very unlikely for a whole team to be “Ready”.

When you compound that with the woes of farming Hydraxian rep, and the water, and all pots, gear, flasks…

Man I don’t think its gonna happen…

That’s not even mentioning leveling up your skill caps like your melee weapon abilities, and defense to 300 (race base cap).

Don’t let me discourage your efforts, I wish you well but I really don’t see it happening…

Simply killing trash… Trash isn’t so simple to clear consistently like that, even if the same group of 40 players do it, they will likely be hitting re-pops before they even finish. On top of that the repair costs, consumable costs and training costs for 40 players will not be a drop int he bucket. Leaving to repair with slow mounts if they even have mounts.

Much time is lost on grinding gold, getting bags for space…I mean how many hunters are going to be there with a bunch of 6 slot bags and a 10 slot quiver, what about warlocks and their shards, mages and making distributing food. The AH is not going to be a source of income when everyone has nothing until the community establishes an economy.

This is still do-able from a rep grind point of view.

Building on this, there are 168 hours in a week.

That leaves just over two days to gather flasks, get gear, and do the attunement. Assuming you DO NOT SLEEP for a week.

Ragnaros in a week is a theoretical impossibility in Vanilla/Classic. Getting to 60 in a week is impossible for the vast majority of players.

Edit: Nice, Blizzard. Even your quote system sucks.

Its a rep grind agaisnt attrition, no boss kills means no gold pay outs.

Lol… nobody will care about people speedrunning a 15 year old game.
