I think people need to respect their role, I try to tolerate and I’ll tell them to stop and let me pull because I just want to finish the run asap. If they ignore me and I have time to spare then I’ll do a big one on them and wait for the whispers. They are random anyway, finishing the run is important, next priority is giggles
This does not solve the problem at all. Rage pullers have existed long before LFG was made a thing.
Worked fine without LFG until Cata. You either played well with others in dungeons and didn’t mess around or you didn’t get invited. Only baddies had problems getting in groups.
I remember back in Legion doing a Mythic+ dungeon and a rage puller pulled about 5 groups of mobs and shouted all sorts of expletives before getting kicked.
The funny part was we (the remaining part of the group) all survived and had a big laugh about it, and went on to clear the rest of the dungeon
LFD started in Wrath, and there was an explosion of toxic behavior. I recall getting booted for stopping to drink when OOM, and typing “OOM”. It’s only so memorable because it was so bizarre at the time. It was like the whole game community took a sharp left turn into crazytown.
I straight counted that as the pet’s damage when I did the math for the other guy. Pets don’t auto attack for 38k dps.
Because pets are barely smarter than the Hunter and don’t position things correctly.
My guild tends to tap a couple of PUGs into our Heroic raid runs and I keep a running list of those that did really well, those that did really bad and those that were just disruptive pains in the backside. Last week I kicked one within seconds of them being invited because they had rage pulled after we kicked them for doing slight more DPS than our tanks (it was a rogue for crying out loud, on Maut of all fights).
I mentioned weak tanks. Tanks that don’t know their rotation, don’t switch targets, don’t aoe, has no idea what positioning is. “What’s a cleave?” Terrible. A BM hunter that knows the bare minimum of which side of the gun the bullets come out of can easily rip something off a weak tank.
Heck, I have ripped aggro off of chain-pullers with something as small as a Renew. Some tanks are just awful. You can either let them die on their crack-fueled one-man marathon and get kicked for it, or heal them and have half their train turn around on you. It’s a lose-lose situation.
If they can’t hold a mob, then they shouldn’t be pulling it.
As I already proved, with math, no tank can lose threat to a pet unless the pet taunts.
If the pet taunts, no amount of threat prevents it from taking aggro.
Every part of your argument is irrelevant.
Healing threat is 0.5 x effective healing. Overheal generates no threat.
If you heal for 1000, you generate 500 threat.
If a tank deals 67 damage, they will out aggro you.
As a side note, to actually pull aggro, you need 5% more threat than the current target if in melee range and 10% more threat if outside of melee range.
So to pull threat in that scenario, you’d need 550 threat, or 1100 healing. That means you’d need to be doing 16.42x as much HPS as the tank is doing in DPS.
If a tank was doing 5k dps, you’d need to be doing 82k healing per second.
I have been averaging ~30k single target dps on bosses. You’d need 493,000 HPS to pull threat.
Your highest logged HPS ever was 72k. A tank would only need to do 4385 dps to keep aggro. I auto attack for 5.5k dps.
This is all assuming taunt is never used. Taunt triples your threat generation in addition to forcing the enemy to attack you.
You have AOTC for the past few tiers, so you’re not awful and I doubt you’re grouping with the worst players in existence. Even if you were, no tank is that bad.
TL;DR: If Renew pulled threat, the enemy got body pulled and no one touched it.
While I believe you that this happened, my experience as a tank was often that the healer would go OOM, I would keep pulling because the healer wasn’t actually required, and then the healer would mouth off because they were offended to find out that they were less necessary than they believed.
Then they got kicked.
You might have run into a tank who got mouthed off at by too many healers too many times.
You might be right. I don’t recall if they kept pulling or not, this was back in Wrath.
Exactly. Which is like the calling card of a really bad tank. And it happens all the time with tanks who think they can chain-pull an entire dungeon. Sometimes it’s not a renew that grabs things. Sometimes I have to lay on a big heal because Mr. Crackheadtank is over-pulling and getting smacked in the back of the head.
I don’t know how else to explain that what I’m talking about isn’t even tanks that do bare minimum. Because the BARE MINIMUM would be enough to hold threat. Like…baaaaare minimum.
What I, and Xazaloa are talking about are:
Literally. Nothing.
Oh you sweet summer child. You dear, pure-hearted idealist. You must be protected, for you are too pure for this game. /hug
I have been healing for a long, long time. I have seen every kind of tank. They aren’t common, but they exist.
I have seen tanks that bad =(
Btw sorina carry me for AoTC. I want a mount >=(
We don’t do carries, but if you want to join our guild and progress with us, we make sure everyone who wants it gets AOTC before the end. <3
But that means transferring to ice crown. T^T
I remember when a tank told me to do less aoe because it was my fault that he couldn’t hold threat, this was in a 10+ key… i wish i could of voted to kick him rofl…
Sorry didn’t realize i directed that post at you
I’ve only had that happen on Skittish week on my DH. Mainly since our AOE is rather feeble without spirit bomb.
I mainly play dps so i am front loaded with aoe, but when the tank pulls a pack with 1 death grip and spams both blood boils before the rest get to him, plus refuses to tab and build on anything he doesn’t think is the focus, plus refuses to taunt off because "its not his problem to keep aggro on any add he isn’t focusing "
my point being i wanted to choke the guy lol, it was not a happy discord call lol
ts tsk. You only deathgrip a mob for bone armor at the startof a pull. Run face first and blood boil twice, do a majestic, GOTHIC, pirouette proceed to hit everyone with your axe.
