I think it is fair to say that classic is looking uncertain after wrath. Are there any race/class combos from the cata era that you might like to see in wrath? For example, I don’t see why not just add Blood Elf Warriors or Human Hunters now.
Despite this, I do think its important to have restrictions. What you can’t do in games is often more important than what you can, and I think its what I like about the classic era (or just pure nostalgia). Still, there are some classes where I don’t think this really matters. I mean, if you can have gnome warrior, I think literally any race can be a warrior. Rogues and Hunters probably come in right behind that.
Unlock them all. Class/race combinations make even less sense than races being monoliths regarding faction choice, especially when you consider smaller factions like Cenarion Circle not caring about which side you come from.
Martial classes especially make no sense being locked. It’s one thing to say “oh Taurens can’t figure out how to access holy magic” but makes zero sense that “only blood elves who CAN access the light can also figure out how to swing a two handed mace effectively.”
Cata is garbo so I don’t really know what was available, so instead I’ll just say which combos I want.
First is dwarf mage. They existed in the original beta, and the spell icon for Blink features a dwarf. I want dwarf mage.
Secondly I want undead paladins. People try to argue undead using holy abilities doesn’t make sense, and then they turn around and heal a raid on their undead priest and act like everything is fine.
The third one, just because I randomly remembered it became a thing at some point in WoW, is dwarf shaman.
If they ever go back and do Classic+, they should introduce undead paladin and dwarf shaman right from the start since BE and Draenei won’t be in yet. It would balance the PVE salvation problem we faced in Classic, and it would be cool af.
