Race / Class / Racial / Faction Unlocks

It’s 2024, not 2004. My Gnomes have been working with other races forever. My Blood Elf has been working with other races forever. Alliance and Horde barely even hate each other with cross faction Warbands and Instances. Blizz, it’s time.

People have been asking for years. We have all stepped up and worked together. We can now even be in the same guild, and play the same content together. We already have the “Give Peace A Chance” quest from DF. Thrall and Anduin have a father/son dynamic. Eitrigg and Tirion were besties. Jaina joining with Rexxar and Saurfang. The list is endless.

So, in Midnight, we need to let it all go, especially since Quel’thalas will be a neutral stoming ground for every type of Elf, and once again, Azeroth is in danger. Let’s start small, at first, and eventually work our way up to a global unlock.

Any race that has worked side by side with any other race since the 3rd war should be allowed to:

  • Learn those classes
  • Absorb and adjust to the physical challenges (Racials)
  • Adapt to a new way of living by choice (Gnomes who prefer nature)

Other race/class/racials that make sense would fit solely because of lore breaking combos that already exist:

  • Rogues with hooves
  • Undead channeling Holy Power
  • Worgen Death Knights
  • Lightforged using Shadow or Void energy
  • Worshipers of the light using Fel energy
  • Mechagnome Night Fae, mechanical that uses Nature energy
  • Dark Iron Dwarf Frost DK - should technically turn to stone
  • Lightforged DK channeling undead powers

That was just a small sample. And then we have NPCs who actually oppose the laws of Race/Class combos simply by existing:

The Undead Paladin

Night Elf Ret Pally

Night Elf Holy Paladin

Worgen Shaman (based on her abilities in combat, and her affiliation with the Earthen Ring and elemental allies)

Human Shaman

Human Druid (not Gilnean)

This list goes on and on. While some may say, “none of them are heroes, so it makes no sense”. They don’t have to be hero characters for it to make sense. If my druid can have a Legion Toy that let’s me have an Imp with me, it may not make me a warlock, but it sure calls a great many things into question. In fact, on the subject of toys, if I use my Manastorm’s Duplicator on my Druid, it leaves me in a Gnome form and claims I am a Gnome Druid.

So there it is. My long explanation of global unlocks, and how none of it is game breaking. You all have opinions, so let’s hear them. But before you go being funny, ask yourself this: “Even if it is improbable, does that make it impossible?”

I have wanted blood elf Druid ever since the botanists from burning crusade. There was also high botanist telaarn in Nighthold for the nightfallen

Don’t forget about the void elf paladin!

I remember him well.

Very important as well, and relevant since Void Elves are relatively new, and not just a “RPG” element that was overlooked.

So an Undead Humanoid is capable of transforming into a 500lb beast of muscle and bone… but for some reason not able to cover up their rib-bones?

I actually do expect we’ll get velf pallies in Midnight. That was a very deliberate npc for them to add. Along with a title and dialogue text describing what she’s all about. It reminds me of those two tauren npcs they added in WLK who would go on to be the leaders of the tauren priests and paladins.

It’s called Nature Magic. It assumes the form most close to that of its natural form.

I mean, we could go WILD with Undead Druids and give them true Undead forms…

People have also argued against it for years.
I should know, I’ve been one of them.

Personally?

I’d rather NOT have all races able to access all classes.
Because I, along with many others — Find it to be insulting to the lore.

:open_hands: Now with that being said, before you start to throw hands — I do believe, we should have more access to more races with more classes … But vehemently disagree with the notion of “ALL

For instance:

  • I definitely don’t want to see mechagnome druids, nor do I desire to see Forsaken druids. :no_entry_sign:
  • Gnome paladins is fine, I don’t really see an issue there :person_shrugging:
  • Void Elf Paladins!? … Hmm, if they changed the spell-appeal to have void-visuals as opposed to the usual light ones? I guess we could work with that.
  • Undead pally feels a bit odd … I’m not really sure how I feel with that honestly :joy:
Your case for lore argument on them with Sir Zeliek is fair and their situation with the light is complex … Plus we have the existence of Calia, so there’s that too.
  • Delas Moonfang is a traitor to the priest class, and I sincerely hope they get bested by a priest & humbled by their superior power — and I will die on that hill! :triumph:
  • Worgen Shaman, I don’t really see an issue with.
  • Human Shaman / Druid — I also don’t see too much issue with either.
  • With the existence of the Primalists & how they were gifted elemental powers, I think we could open up shamanism to most races honestly.

And like you said, there’s a few others …

Lore being ‘broken’ or not making sense in one place or another, doesn’t really mean it can be unapologetically justified & presented to toss it out in all other areas and senses … Otherwise you may as well just make WoW a different version of ‘Fortnite’ and call it a day.

So ultimately?

I vehemently disagree to some suggestions & requests, however cheerfully do agree with others :dracthyr_nod:

Fair enough. I also think we should start slow, maybe just test it on the Core races and see what happens. Those original 8 have known each other the longest.

I’m personally all for it. There are several classes that I enjoy the aesthetic or playstyle of, but don’t vibe with any of the races they’re available to-- or vice versa.

I’m also all for choosing which faction to swear your allegiance to (even if especially if only temporarily, to the highest bidder).

I support your petition. :dracthyr_nod:

When it comes to the faction unlock, I have an idea for that and will post it in another thread shortly. :blue_heart:

Elves and humans should not be allowed more classes. There are too many of them already.

I agree, let all races be evokers. Then we can finally enjoy their sweet tier sets properly without dealing with the ugly dragon that can’t be covered up and hidden with tmog

I just threw up in my mouth… forsaken druid? Really? Devs are cooked.

I cant wait for human centipede form

I’d love a ton more druids. Specifically for Draenei and Blood elves, but also other classes for other races.

Paladins for Night Elves, Forsaken, Worgen, Void Elves, Orcs and so on would be a blast (its my favorite class.)

Shaman would be damned cool for a whole bunch of races still without them.

I’d love more race and class options.

So I added my idea for unlocking Factions.

I was so hyped for NE Paladins; sad it’s not a thing!

Well, at least we know it is possible thanks to a certain NPC.
