It’s 2024, not 2004. My Gnomes have been working with other races forever. My Blood Elf has been working with other races forever. Alliance and Horde barely even hate each other with cross faction Warbands and Instances. Blizz, it’s time.
People have been asking for years. We have all stepped up and worked together. We can now even be in the same guild, and play the same content together. We already have the “Give Peace A Chance” quest from DF. Thrall and Anduin have a father/son dynamic. Eitrigg and Tirion were besties. Jaina joining with Rexxar and Saurfang. The list is endless.
So, in Midnight, we need to let it all go, especially since Quel’thalas will be a neutral stoming ground for every type of Elf, and once again, Azeroth is in danger. Let’s start small, at first, and eventually work our way up to a global unlock.
Any race that has worked side by side with any other race since the 3rd war should be allowed to:
- Learn those classes
- Absorb and adjust to the physical challenges (Racials)
- Adapt to a new way of living by choice (Gnomes who prefer nature)
Other race/class/racials that make sense would fit solely because of lore breaking combos that already exist:
- Rogues with hooves
- Undead channeling Holy Power
- Worgen Death Knights
- Lightforged using Shadow or Void energy
- Worshipers of the light using Fel energy
- Mechagnome Night Fae, mechanical that uses Nature energy
- Dark Iron Dwarf Frost DK - should technically turn to stone
- Lightforged DK channeling undead powers
That was just a small sample. And then we have NPCs who actually oppose the laws of Race/Class combos simply by existing:
The Undead Paladin
Night Elf Ret Pally
Night Elf Holy Paladin
Worgen Shaman (based on her abilities in combat, and her affiliation with the Earthen Ring and elemental allies)
Human Shaman
Human Druid (not Gilnean)
This list goes on and on. While some may say, “none of them are heroes, so it makes no sense”. They don’t have to be hero characters for it to make sense. If my druid can have a Legion Toy that let’s me have an Imp with me, it may not make me a warlock, but it sure calls a great many things into question. In fact, on the subject of toys, if I use my Manastorm’s Duplicator on my Druid, it leaves me in a Gnome form and claims I am a Gnome Druid.
So there it is. My long explanation of global unlocks, and how none of it is game breaking. You all have opinions, so let’s hear them. But before you go being funny, ask yourself this: “Even if it is improbable, does that make it impossible?”
