Any ideas here? Keep gettting an error has occurred for race change, repeatedly. 2nd day. Logged out of game multiple times and bnet multiple times. Also I have made sure to be on the correct realm for the toon. And the name isn’t taken because I can create a new toon with my desired name.

No, apparently its a name change error, was able to race change a few minutes ago but not name change.

So you’re trying to do a name change correct? You’ve gone into character creation and it says the name is available?
Two things then: first, make sure you’re on the right realm when checking. You said you did, but just double check.
Second, I believe the name free-up system can be a little weird when you are renaming a character instead of creating one. The system checks if a name is in use, and if it’s legible to be cleared up it will show the green check mark.
Renaming (I think) doesn’t use quite this system and may not see that the name can be freed up and thus give an error.
You might try creating the character then you can delete it afterwards. Doing that ties the name to your account for a bit so you should be able to rename from there.
This is of course assuming there isn’t something else going on and it’s just the rename system being a bit out of the loop on the status of a name.
