I purchased a race change this evening to use on one of my characters. When attempting to complete the change I click finish and I get a message saying we’ve encountered an error please come back later. Are character services down again?
Was this character recently moved over from Legion Remix? That counts as a service and has a cooldown.
Also make sure you’re logged into the correct realm as the character. You can log into them then back out to move realms or you can also check the top right corner and see what realm you are in and if you need to move. The warbands make the realm issue a little harder to notice than it used to be, but you still have to be on the correct realm to use the service.
The character was moved over from remix well over a week ago! I actually performed a server transfer on it on the 17th that worked just fine. Assuming the cooldown is still 72 hours it shouldn’t be an issue.
Did you verify you were on the proper realm?
I did yeah. I’ve performed a number of race changes/faction changes/server transfers over the years and I’ve seen the cooldown message before. I’ve never seen this message popup until now.
Does your purchase history say completed or pending for the race change?
It’s showing as completed!
Ahh, darn, but good to rule that out. I’d consider putting in a purchase failure ticket.
Any active quests? Mail? Pets? Etc? Has it possibly not been the full 72 hours? Deleted the cache folder?
I hadn’t considered the possibility of quests potentially blocking it. I’ll try dropping what I have active and deleting the cache folder now. I could be wrong but I’m sure that I used the server transfer the same day that I bought it which was November 17.
Update: Abandoning active quests and deleting the cache folder didn’t appear to help.
Hrm. I’m out of ideas, then. 
If there’s no pending service transactions, I’m not sure what else could be causing it to error.
