I saw that as well, but I don’t think this is necessarily the case. I don’t see Blizzard going that far. Them relaxing the whole need for character customization purchases (to change genders and what not) was already a huge win. I don’t see them taking it this far. Especially because every time they come out with a new race, you know they make money hand over fist with people race changing.

Arcane Torrent isn’t an ability that an undead would have, just as orcs don’t have the same regeneration ability as trolls and humans aren’t known for being able to tear rifts in space-time. It would be real confusing if your character started as an earthen and you later went to the barber and changed their appearance to a human, but they still needed to use Quiet Contemplation to heal themself.
Its not too bad and at the proposed gold sink price of 250K gold per race or faction change its a great deal.

Yeah, don’t think for two seconds that a sale either ending before a service goes free, or a sale just after a point where they anticipate those services being used en masse would make them think twice.
I’m still salty about my blood elf>vulpera race change that I did on the day I got my Shadowlands CE as DK for all races only opened up after an account was upgraded to SL. Two days later: sale on race/faction changes!
Mind you, the CE shipped out the month BEFORE launch and that’s now been the standard for the last few physical CE releases, so this wasn’t exactly a situation of one happening on launch day and planning around that or just waiting for a winter sale. Granted, at the end of the day it is a very small amount of cash and not an amount that’s going to break me, but with how often this crap seems to happen and the fact that it’s almost a coin flip on if you’re going to get compensated or not, it really does feel like Blizzard’s stance on the matter is “Whatever! We’ll just deal with the angry players as they come along, and if we lose any the whales feeding obscene amounts into our various cash shops will make up for the loss of a few subs anyway!”
Honestly, when those of us that get screwed over by this sort of thing get mad, it’s less about being angry over the money and more about being angry over the principle of the matter.

I’ll remain skeptical. I don’t see Blizzard giving up a likely cash cow of some kind of size in getting money from existing race and faction changes. Mechanically your faction has little bearing on the game since all but queue content is cross faction and I believe the next content patch even changes that too.
And besides niche situations which ABSOLUTELY need changed, your race is otherwise irrelevant too (dwarf and night elf being exceptions).
I’ll believe it when its in the patch notes for an update

I’ve seen other “cute” Twitter shorts that seem to be solely for their own amusement. Maybe it is true, and they are no longer making as much money on race changes. Or, maybe it was a pot-shot at Gnomes coming out as Tauren. Hard to say.

I could get behind that IF they absorbed the sub-races like lightforged, KT, etc into the main races.

This will be awesome. I know that i have paid for too many race changes over time. I guess they can make up the lost revenue elsewhere.
I have at least 2 alts that i would like to race change.
This hunter has actually been race changed twice now (over 20 years).
I can see this being true because they’ll make race/faction changes cost thousands of gold, ensuring people are still buying tokens.

Not gonna cry over spilt milk for something that if added would be amazing for the players
It would be wishful thinking on our part, I am pretty sure they make very good coin on offering these services in the shop, I don’t think they would want to lose that.
If this is true i want a refund. I paid for a faction change yesterday and havent used it. If this crap is gonna be free i can wait.
