Well, I decided to give FFXIV a try and what a convoluted mess to just setup the game. After 15 mins of trying to figure out what a “one-time password” is and how to get one…I gave up.
My gosh…the instructions for setup were like a stereo manual from the 1980s. How on earth do people make it past setup in that game?
Got to hand it to Blizz for making it easy to start playing this game.
Yay! I thought I was alone. I was trying to do the free trial on FFXIV, and to start out with, their website was a little confusing. I got my account info wrong and they told me I was locked out for 48 hours and then I just said no thanks.
Everyone says it’s the best thing ever, and good for you all who are able to play it. I still want to try FFXIV one day, but it’s a huge download and this little gnome can’t even figure out the website. 
Anyway, starting up with WoW was pleasant!
Can I have your gold/gil/credits/I am unclear on what game you are quitting?
FFXIV. You can have everything I have but I didn’t make it past the install page.
Shall I open the Kitty flap at the front door while you crawl yourself back to wow ? 
Installing WoW 15 years ago was far more streamlined than this FFXIV horror!
fr man when i tried to play ff14 recently i was like why tf do i have to jump through flaming hoops backwards and land on a unicycle then ride that backwards on a tight rope over a cliff.
the whole setup for that game is WAY… to complicated. i finally got it figured out but even when i log in it’s still dumb in the sense that it states " one time password ( OPTIONAL )" try to log in without it. doesn’t work password is correct. use the OTP and it lets me in -.-"
i mean for security reasons i can understand but at the same time it’s like way too complex to get started especially if you don’t play like me i just tried to log in cause i bought the game years ago don’t play it though and wanted to try it out a little more.
My experience was:

They make it unnecessarily hard to even log into that game. Imagine the BS you have to go through if you’re trying to get back onto an account you haven’t played in a couple years.
I didn’t have an issue with the one-time login thing, and like it says…one time…then its over. Should had asked for help.
For real. This is so weird.
He’s complaining on the WOW forums about difficulties trying installing and loading FF14.
Mind you, i’ve installed FF14 myself, it’s not hard, but that’s besides the point.
So I’m doing it right?

No the WOW forums are for declaring the game trash and saying it died 10 years ago after Wrath and none of us realize it yet.
No joke, i have shown my great aunt how to turn her stereo on (she can’t hear the TV thru it’s own speakers) dozens of times. I even drew a picture of the remote on the wall with diagrams. It’s 3 buttons. She can’t figure it out.
I feel for your Aunt. Why do they have to make everything so complicated nowadays.
little bit of googling got me past that part. try that maybe.
FYI: I went to post on the FFXIV forums for help. Can’t make it past the login screen…
It’s funny because I’ve also had a lot of problems in ff14 with my account or logging in. And they have strange lock outs and the customer service can be slow.
But Blizz has slow customer service too
