It is 72 hours down to the second from when you race changed.

If you bought the purchase very recently, you can try and see if you can get the purchase refunded. FAIR WARNING. Sometimes this will temporarily lock a character, but it’s a pretty easy fix outside of the wait time for your ticket to be answered. You can give the refund request a shot here:

bad advice to refund. It’s already completed. If they refund, it will be locked and they cant buy the unlock till the cooldown is up.

best advice: wait for the 3 day cooldown and buy another.

with ticket times, i dont think it would be immediately enough

They don’t base their response times on when they get around to the ticket. Players are not punished for Blizzard’s ballooned wait times. They base the “immediate” on when the player submits the ticket and request. If it takes Blizzard two weeks to answer that ticket, they base it on the time between the purchase and when the player submitted their ticket.

And the other caveat is that the player needs to stay off that character completely until Blizzard gives them an answer.

im not even sure if not liking a race qualifies for a refund since anyone can make a level 1 (insert race here) to see

The support article says that if you are unhappy with the race you have chosen, a GM may be able to help. It doesn’t place any conditions or caveats on the cause of that unhappiness. It certainly doesn’t say anywhere that buyer’s remorse is a disqualifying factor.

no, but it does say:

“Please note that assistance is not guaranteed.”

full text:

If you are unhappy with the race or name you chose for your character these cannot be changed in-game, but Customer Support may be able to help if contacted immediately after using the service. Please note that assistance is not guaranteed.

So we agree, it doesn’t specify anything in regards to qualifying or limiting factors.

The good thing is that it’s not your call to make. Nor is it any of our places to dissuade someone from at least trying an option that Blizzard left open for them. Assistance isn’t guaranteed, but their own article that they made available for public consumption offers it as an option. Especially since at this point, nearly everything is refundable so long as it’s within their timeframes.

Even the SFAs have been known to let people at least try an appeal they don’t think will amount to much or attempt to inquire about a refund or this or that. The Powers That Be left a path open for people to try, no matter how busy the queues are or how slender of a chance something might be. We can only give a player the proper channel to proceed with should they choose to. It never hurts to ask.
