The queues bring not just massive amounts of frustration but also a very nasty form of anxiety.
Once you have spent your time in queue or whatever method you used to get into the game. (I suggest sacrificing 1980’s tech to The Robot Devil) The levels of anxiety soar the instant you are drawn away from your keyboard.
Did I dc, how long do I have?
I have Crohn’s Disease, meaning that I have to (literally no choice or I poop myself) go to the bathroom. I already have issues in there and now you add another worry and stress to this issue.
And that’s just me, what about father’s, mother’s or just busy individuals?
We get into the game to play with our friends and family and then the game itself becomes a source of anxiety.
Did you want to go to dinner with your brother, well eff you buddy how are you going to stay logged in so you can grind the homies for those 3 hours you have after dinner?
Do you need to pick up little Timmy from school, well Timmy learn the bus schedule or get to walking because mom can’t get dc’d to afking. She has badges, honor and gold to farm.
Blizzard you need to accept the fact that your community wants to play in a way that lets them have access to huge pools of players. IE Mega Servers.
The FCM is not working. A full week after launch you can log into each server and add up the queues and the total across NA and EU are almost 100K. They were over 100K on the day after launch.
Or at least you need to own up to the problem and make a statement or something because guilds are not leaving.
Talk all you want about getting the fringes and loose edges of the servers to move, you need large portions of Faerlina, Benediction, Grobbulus, Firemaw, Gehenas and others to move.
You need to incentivize the larger groups to move at this point.
After reading these forums and reddit the largest sticking point is
“What are we going to do if the new server dies underneath us again?”.
Please at least acknowledge the problem and either confirm hard that there is no fix and offer better FCM.
Or let us know that there is hope for the large communities we obviously want.
To end, this anxiety makes wow alot less enjoyable.
Give players a 100% free transfer back to their original server after leaving a megaserver to be used at any point after 60 days and the queues will literally die overnight.
People aren’t leaving because they know they’ll be forced to pay yet another $25 to come back in 3-4 months.
While I agree with this, they already stated that they want to get rid of mega servers. Why would they let the players recreate them after they finally get rid of them?
Couldn’t agree more. The amount of time I have spent remoting into my computer just to get into a queue or to ensure that I don’t get logged out before I can get back to the game is ridiculous. The amount of time spent NOT playing the game simply so that I could time the queue to end around the time when I’d be totally free for the night is absurd. Yeah, I could play a little over the next 6 hours, but silly me, I need to stop and get my queue going so that I have a chance to play sometime later tonight.
Their lack of response (or their really bad one effectively blaming their player-base for the problem), and their lack of any sort of feasible solution shows how much they don’t care.
And you can’t move because your guild won’t move? Your anxiety problema aren’t enough to make you move but others should move for your convenience?
Why should we feel bad for the mega server players that want everything without consequences? I transfered weeks ago. If you enjoy your queue then stay. Maybe take a month off.
Threads like this make mega server players come off spoiled and entitled.
I include myself and the communities I am part of.
Read into this what you will, but I am not asking anyone to do something I am not willing to do as well.
If a good option is offered,
IE. Better FCM destinations.
Or Servers A & B created. (Think Bene A&B and so on Merged servers) I am no engineer so I don’t know if that is even an option.
Or return vouchers given to accounts that take the current FCM destinations.
You (and others that share your anxiety) may need to take a step back for some perspective. At the end of the day, this is a video game. You should not be scheduling your life around it. If you feel so much anxiety that you’re unable to function in life (visiting friends, caring for children), then you need to unsubscribe immediately. These are signs of addiction.
Yes, Blizzard is mismanaging servers. And for whatever reason they think making one post every 3 months about the major problems is adequate. Their communication is atrocious which leads to more frustration. But allowing these issues to impact your life isn’t their fault. Don’t let this game take control of you.
Because it permanently offers a solution that won’t fail. Server becomes overloaded? Free xfer off. Come back in 60 days after it cools off. Repeat this process, as it’s better then any other solution.
Wanting to be able to play a game that we pay a service for is entitled? That sounds ridiculous. It’s 2022, they created an issue and A) aren’t owning up to it, and B) aren’t doing anything about it.
Mega servers are not a “wow” concept, nor are they a problem in other games. It just seems like one of the largest gaming companies in the world can’t get it right.
Look, the game can’t function with more than a certain number of players on a server. Yeah, they messed up by allowing people to form the mega servers in the first place, but you can’t change what happened. All they can do is try to fix the problem they have.
The queues are more of a nuisance than anything now. They’re pretty predictable so you just log on when it’s X hours until you want to play and then don’t log off until you’re done for the day.
Other way around. Most people do have a pretty predictable schedule and know how to use remote desktop, so it’s just a matter of figuring out when you want to be on.
I felt pretty pressured to fit in as much exp as I could while I was still on bene. When I swapped servers, I felt like I could finally just chill and level.
Bro I am not wrong, I am telling you exactly what I do. And if something comes up and I’m not able to get on when I wanted to, no big deal. I’ll go do something else. The only people who have anxiety about it are those who are afraid they’re going to get left behind if they’re not 80 and fully geared in a week.
