Queue workaround

It’s 2022, we pay $15 a month to play this game and we’re facing a 2005 solution to a technological issue… But oh well, since it’s a service that we’re still interested in, I guess it’s up to us to adapt to the situation. I’ve found a workaround that I’d like to share with everyone who, like me, would like to play the game the moment I open it, but ends up facing a 5 hour queue. The solution is simply a remote access to your computer via your cellphone, this post is not intended to go in-depht on how to configure the remote access tool (it’s not hard at all and there’s plenty of tutorials online), it’s just to present a workaround that maybe you haven’t thought before, here is how it works:

Step 1 - download the remote access Google chrome extension;
Step 2 - download the Chrome remote desktop app;
Step 3 - your phone and the chrome in your computer must have access to the same email for this to work as far as I know;
Step 4 - when you’re off to work, leave your computer on;
Step 5 - access your computer with your cellphone, open up the game and join the queue 4 hours before you’re home!

Tip1: queues start forming as early as 11am, so I would recommend entering it around 2pm-3pm to avoid getting in too early and getting kicked because you were afk.
Tip2: you can use this system to keep yourself online when you have to leave too, simply write a macro that makes your character jump, put it in your action bar and click it every 5 minutes or so from your cellphone.

I’ve done this using an Android phone and Windows machine, haven’t had a single problem so far and could actually play the game the time I wanted to. Feel free to leave other solutions.

Everyone starts doing this and the queue just gets worse. :sweat_smile:

Tragedy of the Commons.

Queues are slow because half the players online are AFK hoping to not get booted to bypass the queue.

This is Blizzards fault, and Blizzard isn’t going to fix it.
So you can wait it out where queue times will go away again after the hype dies down
You can transfer your character
You can vote with your wallet.

Or the devs and engineers can stop twiddling their thumbs at work from home and actually do their job

Even if they committed to re-engineering their backend to solve this problem, I doubt they would even have it ready for Dragonflight.

Someone did a cost analysis at some point and this just won’t be a priority for Blizzard, ever.

I work from home, and my favorite part of the day is twiddling my thumbs!

Can’t blame them honestly, you don’t spend potentially millions to solve a problem that only exists for a small period of time.

New world had queues, Lost ark has queues, retail has queues at launch. Its not a 2005 problem. its just an issue with MMOS.

And only exists for classic. Retail doesnt merge servers, they just link them. Linking say Benediction and a server they shut down and offering free transfers to the low pop server would surely let more people on Benediction, if the bottleneck is the player database as described in the blue post.

I can’t really speak on if it will or won’t, as I don’t know how their backend works.

Only reason retail barely gets queues is there’s very little reason to pile on one server on retail.

The easiest solution to the problem is also the solution some people will hate, make classic cross realm.

People have been doing this for years

Or, you can just follow the suggested solution and play the game the moment you want to :slight_smile:

I think you won “most reductive post” for the day. Congrats!

I play on pagle, this is already the case.

Why bother replying to a post that has nothing to do with you then? lmao

Because I’m part of the Wow community, so you and I are brothers in this <3

Shhhhhh don’t use logic it is forbidden on these forums?!?

New world fix thier ques. Added more space first.

I agree 100%, it’s not a 2005 problem, an issue with mmos. I said it’s a 2005 solution to a problem. Any layman with a bit of software knowledge can think of a few examples of other softwares that had more challeging problems and implemented more interesting solutions. Is it an outdated solution? Yes, absolutely. Is it viable for them as a company to rewrite their entire backend to fix a problem that happens a few weeks of the year? I have no idea. Is it our right as costumers to express discontent with a faulty service? Seens not after posting this lol

Can’t transfer, i’m on a fresh server
Can’t vote with my wallet, i prepaid

Lol. Lmao :melting_face:
