So among everything, this is the number one thing I feel that should be addressed. Waiting 13 minutes for an unrated BG match is just ridiculous. If there is one thing keeping me from pvp, this is probably it. I love wow pvp, but do I love it enough to wait this long just to get a match? So many times I queue up, see the wait time, and then fight the urge to play HoTs or some other game with near instant matching.
Merc mode should be removed and blacklisting brought back… having to wait 30-40 minutes in que to fight a merc premade ( because it’s much easier to make one ) is just a big waste of time.
Supposedly the “population imbalance” isn’'t even that big, I remember ion mentioned in an interview that it was something like 53% Horde / 47% Alliance in terms of the total population.
The “problem” is that Alliance players don’t participate in competitive content (for whatever reason) at the same rate as Horde players.
Alliance players seem way less interested (…for whatever reason) in PvPing, Mythic+, or serious raiding and are more into the “casual” activities such as RP’ing, transmog farming, pet battling, etc.
So despite the small 6-7% population gap, Horde bg queue times are way higher than Alliance bg queue times. If the queue times are based on supply and demand, this means there are way more Horde signing up to bgs (at any given time) than Alliance.
…it’s also possible that the population gap has indeed gotten wider ever since that interview. Alliance as a faction was already shrinking/declining before and no doubt things like Vulpera only compounded the downward trend.
He didn’t even know about merc mode when he made this thread, for one. Second point, if he just leveled an Alliance toon, he would have low gear and probably worse essences/traits.
I don’t judge people too much by lacking gear. You can find plenty of bad players with full raid gear and somehow still do no damage or heals in a random battleground. Also, the last BG I just did on alliance, I had a non horde druid… alliance player who literally only had 2 pieces of gear, 1 legion artifact, and bfa neck in a level 50 bg…
I will just disagree with you, I like merc mode, not that I really need it. I have max level (well not anymore) of basically every class on either side… But it does allow me to play with my horde friends and have faster q’s…
I don’t agree once again. My horde friends doing 5man premades have carried alliance to winning so many BGs. To the point I’ve actually had btag people remove me on horde side because they lose because of it.
alright I’m really not trying to brag but since you think my essences have such a huge correlation to my success in bg’s, I’d like to tell you I consistently make top of the leaderboard even with low rank essences. Maybe if it were rated, but even so it really does not make as much a difference as you think. Also I’ve been BGing with my own faction for years and years and never had any team mate be rude or nasty so not really sure what you mean
