If I have to sit in a 4 hour queue, at least give me the option of paying even more money for a fast pass to the front of it.

Queues will be gone after 3 months in Wrath once everyone besides the serious players quit. I refuse to allow Blizzard to milk us more like Cows (ironic) due to people wanting to give them money when in reality we just want better servers. #addmorelayers/sharding

This is it. The solution is out there, they’ve chosen not to use it previously.
Pretty sure the overwhelming consensus from players on the mega servers would be in favor of sharding, especially if it was only used short term.
Why…why would you give them ideas like that?
Tangentially related, but the whole fast pass system as Disney Land morphed into a huge mess, Defunctland did a really interesting documentary on it if you’re into that sort of thing.
They have used and already use sharding which is why most realms have layers. But we need all realms to be pushed harder with it to deal with lanuch
Sharding has not been used in classic, layering is a similar but not quite the same technology. Sharding is only used in retail, unless something changed fairly recently.
AH i thought sharding was the same as layering but with 1 more step different. Only issue would be server stability due to pushing these wow realms to their absolute limit with how much layering and sharding would be needed for launch
I could be wrong, but my basic understanding is sharding splits only certain overwhelmed zones, while layering keeps the “whole world” the same on each layer.
IE in retail you can watch people disappear in front of you as you’re just going around a zone, which granted is a little strange. But layering that will never happen.
I will say I don’t know if that means their servers could actually handle more people at once, but I know I play on Illidan in retail and haven’t seen a queue all xpac that I can recall, certainly not a long one.
This just sounds like we are rewarding Blizz for not doing their job. Then we have to pay extra to get into the game we should already be in that we pay for.
Layering is on the front end, Sharding is on the Back End.
The thing is, Sharding functionally works best with Cross-Realm Servers, which isn’t a thing in Classic.
At this point, they just need to increase the Server Capacity for the mega servers, stop letting new people roll on the mega servers, and add more layers to the mega servers.

in reality they can make a special door for whoever pay more, but in server, you’re already limited by capacity of server which is “you’ll pay just to Jump in line” they won’t magically let you enter server & if everyone paid to Jump in line then everyone will still be crippled at the long queue.
alright then we gotta increase the paying for those who wanna get fast pass and to prevent everyone from using that if it’s cheap, let’s say make it +100$ per month! Hey, if you’re ready to pay whatever price to be able to play? there are better options than asking blizzard to make paying options…let me say a few
1-hire someone to login for you and keep your account logged in and ready before your playing times.
2- if you’re the type to pay to speed up things? then you can just buy boosts/gear and you wouldn’t worry about the lost time on queue.
3-use the free server transfer for yourself, your friend and enjoy instant queue at another server.
in the end, Blizzard need to increase those mega server capacity. "ofc increasing capacity will cost blizzard money then maybe blizzard should charge everyone on those mega server more money per month, if those mega server’s players didn’t like that? they are free to transfer off that mega server.

I don’t know, seems like it might be a simpler solution to our problems given that Blizz hasn’t fixed or bothered to reply in any way about the queue times other than to offer non-solutions. I have to believe at this point they just don’t know how to actually fix the root cause.
So just let me sign up for Wrath Pass Plus and get this queue out of my face.
Pretty much the only benefit of living in the UK but being on NA realms, everyones asleep when I’m logging in so no queues lol.
