It probably won’t make you feel better, but think how people on European servers feel about the schedule. They are 8-9 hours ahead. No WoW in the late afternoon/ early evening.
Because no ones at work if something goes wrong. They are home sleeping or/and with their families.

@Vraylok I think that’s true for planned weekly maintenance. When they do unplanned (like today) it all goes down worldwide at the same time.

Same answer given every week. And a business is different than a video game. They’re going to do their thing during their working hours. Not pay for night shift to do it when it isnt business critical to do so.

They do it in the AM PST because most people have other things to do at that time thus impacting the fewest people and that’s also the Timezone where they work.
I’m just curious to find out what’s screwed up enough that they needed to take the servers down today for 2 hrs : 42 minutes and counting.

And for whatever it is worth, I wasn’t aware of the maintenance today. My launcher never said a thing even after restarting it until AFTER it had already started.
nah, europe players haven’t noticed a hiccup. their maintenance is on wednesdays and usually lasts like an hour tops cuz the squad know what they’re doing by then…
Right? Mornings on my days off are generally the best times for me to play. I love people saying “go to work and play when you get home”. My work days are 14+ hours with commute. The last thing I want to do, or have time to do, is play WoW.
People will bemoan any time it’s done, and blizzard certainly doesn’t want to pay its employees to work overnight.

How do you suppose they do that? Oceanic is the same region as NA. And I think they already do schedule EU maintenance separate from NA.
They do. EU maintenance is Weds.
OCE is part of NA.
And the stats say when the load is lightest, therefore when maintenance should be done.

it always start on prime time here (9pm/GMT+7). Asian player would be thrilled if they start the maintenance 3 hours after/earlier.
EU is same time(early morning) on Weds.
It’s a world accessible game, yes, but it’s a US made game, and it should be treated like one, and thus adhere to the schedule that’s best suited to people living in the US. No other game company does this. FFXIV for example, they do their maintenance at a time that best suits the people living in Tokyo, Japan, you know? Where the game is made.

No, Europe is a different separate region, with separate maintenance times. Europe and NA can indeed go offline separately and be maintenanced separately. (This is one reason why transfers between NA/EU are not possible, because the regions are not connected.)
