I was told by another player That I should be using the submit hacks page to report bots since the in-game report feature is bugged and will randomly disconnect you when you report another player which 1) Could mean the report isn’t going through and 2) Means you only get that one player in a report and not all the others that are around.
I’ve done my own investigation, as much as one can as a player, on herbing bots and I’m trying to report them to get investigation started by Blizzard. On the submit hacks page it’s a little confusing to fill out the fields, it goes like this.
1st field: Name. It doesn’t specify whether to put your name, or the player you’re reporting name there. Nor if it’s your REAL name or your character name you saw everything occur on.
2nd field: Bnet account which I assume would be my bnet account since as a player I wouldn’t know someones bnet from their character name.
3rd field: Product, this one wasn’t an issue.
4th Field: Type of report… Now would be botting be consider hacking, or exploiting?
5th field: This one I assume is to describe why you think someone is a bot, but also if the 1st field wants your name you would also have to put the peoples names you’re reporting here instead.
Just hoping someone more experienced in dealing with reporting bots and the submit hacks would be able to clarify for me, Thanks!
How so? I’ve tested this after a UI reset and with no add-ons and it still occurs. Or were you referring to that the report still goes through but the disconnect is a WoW UI Bug that hasn’t been fixed yet?
I’ve reported it as a bug already, and have since the pre-patch which is when it started up again. It was an issue in a previous expansion and it was again, pretty wide-spread as it is now. Always curious how this stuff always pops up from a WoW patch and UI resets never solves it. I’ve even had a whole new windows install for a newer NVME SSD and that didn’t solve it.
It would be nice if people would answer my questions regarding the submit hacks page instead of telling me to do a UI reset that I’ve done already.
You’re fine using either the website hacks form or their email address. What to touch on this for a second? Just report your suspicions. You can upload any video or still photos you have. Screenshots. But you don’t need to do any investigation. You cannot see the things that blizzard can from their end. All you’re doing is reporting your suspicions and moving on. Thank you for your help.
Really kind of feels like people don’t want to read my first post since I asked some questions about HOW to properly fill out the submit hacks page because it’s very vague and doesn’t actually explain what any of the fields mean or whose name should be where.
Then use the email address. I’m on my phone I can’t pull the page up properly. The email address goes to the exact same people. The exact same eyes will look at it as would look at the website forum. Just remember to keep it simple when you’re describing it. I saw so-and-so do such-and-such on server for this. Location. Time. They can pull it up from there.
Don’t waste your time doing this. That’s all it is. A waste of time. Blizzard does not use this information for their investigation. They only use their logs. If you feel someone is botting, report them and move on.
It’s not always needed for you to report every single one. Do one. Do a few. Move on.
I’ve had the reset resolve it for me. As well, updating addons helps too.
Botting would be hacking. Exploiting is more taking advantage of something in-game that is likely there by accident. Like being able to get somewhere that you shouldn’t be.
This is where you’d want to include the character name, server, character class, basically as much information as you can. Important things would be the server you were on, the time and location of the botting and what sort of behavior you witnessed.
