Question: Please explain why the named 'NECRO' threads are so bad?

You need to understand that quite often, the information you’re finding is out of date. And being bumped up to where it could cause more confusion than help.

It’s not necessarily against the rules, but it frowned upon.

It’s better to ask questions in a new thread if everything you find is more than six months old.

You can also ask the CS forums. Tickets cannot help with “game hints,” but CS is pretty good about finding information for you.

not being sarcastic at all.

what sort of info are you unable to find on wowhead?

If you have been playing a long time, you may not realize there was a huge purge of ‘old’ info’ you can’t find any more (edit: on wowhead). Also, the population of players 'has decreased adding to comments … I get that. So, you can call me a ‘liar’ that I just don’t know how to look for info, but… I have become accustomed to searching for WOW info on the ‘world wide web’ and I end up here at times on a ‘necro’ thread. Sorry, I am not trying to break laws of the ‘forum’…

Okay, drama aside, because I have no clue where this accusation of you lying came from… read this and follow it, because it’s basically what the CS forum would also tell you:

since when did they purge info on wowhead?

Maybe do some research! I remember it very clearly and they even documented it.

i dislike this.

Interesting, You make all sorts of ‘assumptions’ on answers from the past that MOST likely will be true about a GAME, and YOU call them ‘misinformation’… I am so very sad for you! "confuses the conversation’ I would say is you! What a sad state of affairs we are in. So are you going to burn all the books before a month ago? That is what you are saying! Mr. Elk. Is that your thought? What right do you have to do that?

I really like that title. Very much appreciated.

When it comes to computer games? Yeah it’s probably bad.

Why? Because the answer to your question was probably changed 5 patches ago.

no one cares but the hall monitors of the forums lol. most time people who necro look up stuff off google and go from there and are not regulars. the forum mods themselves don’t care either lol

That’s not true either. They’ll lock a necro’d thread if reported.

Ok, first topic I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. Now I think you’re just doing it to annoy people.

It’s explained quite well here assuming you actually read the thread and didn’t just reply for the sake of adding your two cents and airing your own personal grievances on the matter:

^ That is why this crap gets annoying.

“for no reason” the people who accidently necro usually have a reason that pertains to the topic.
i don’t think they do it intentionally they just googled and Blizzard allowed them to comment. i wonder why they don’t enforce the 2 months to close like they do in some forums around here.

I don’t either.

There’s a lot they don’t do that completely baffles me. Like, why does every other Blizzard forum have btag posting but not this one? Why does other WoW categories prevent necroing?

It’s like they want people to troll Retail

I’m not “trolling”. I’m asking questions, after getting harassed for making a post to an “old” thread.

If this thread was irrelevant, then why are you responding to it?

A thread about Necro threads being Necroed…

The irony.

You are not supposed to ‘necro’ threads on the forum. If a thread is over a month old and has not been consistently getting posts the entire time, it is generally better to post a new thread rather than attempt to revive the old one. Blizzard will generally shut down threads that get necroed for this reason.

So if you find a thread (even if it is a suggested one) and the last post in it was from 2024, just make a new thread. You can ask the same questions, cover the same talking points, just don’t bring the old thread out of the grave.

I didn’t say you were.

Pointing out that you’re not supposed to necro old threads is not harassment.

I responded to this thread when it was relevant. When you necro’d it, I got a notification. That’s the way the forums work.

if you’re looking for information via the forums you’re better off asking in a new post rather than bringing an old post back from the dead.
