I have gotten answers from hundreds of people and it is literally split 50/50 on answers lol. 1/2 say it is per person and half say it is only 1 chance.
Can someone please answer this DEFINITIVELY if possible and back it up with a blue post somewhere or another site like wowhead:
Primarily talking about mount drops in raids. If there are 10 of us in a Legion Raid (or BFA raid), say Nighthold for Molten Core, and there are 10 people. When we kill Gul’Dan it rolls a chance for the mount to drop per person in the raid (so theoretically 10 mounts could drop), or is it just once for the entire raid?
It is per raid, Be it that you have one person or ten people. You are never going to run a old raid and get 10 mounts to drop. Just not possible, There would only be a small chance one could drop in the raid.
Ok, but then why when I solo a Raid like Nighthold and kill a boss it can AND HAS dropped 2 of the same item. Wouldn’t a Mount have that same chance?
I’m guess I am confused on what exactly legacy loot is and does when it comes to Raid Boss mounts and other loot chances. Can anyone refer to a blue post or some official post on exactly the ruleset?
It is possible for other items to drop more then one. But I believe they have these raids hardwired if they drop a mount it will only ever be one.
Why solo, So you do not have drama or fight over who gets the mount! I have never heard of anyone getting more then one mount in these old raids.
I doubt your going to get a official post on this matter. Somethings they will just not say and about loot chance is something they do not talk about much. As it is the drop chance for these mounts is so small it is not even funny.
Can not tell you how many times I ran Karazan before I got the mount from the horseman.
Thanks Vorsol, I do appreciate your input. I’m asking for a specific reason:
I have 1 BNET accounts with 5 Shadowlands subscriptions for farming mounts. I log in 5 characters at once and run raids and such to get mounts to drop. The amount of time I would save by running say Nighthold once with 4 of my toons on autofollow while killign everything with my main is massively different than if I have to do each Mount run 5 times separately. So knowing for SURE what the Mount loot “system” is will help me immensely for the way I like to play the game.
Hope that makes sense.
I did just find this post:
"Participating in dungeons and raids 11 levels or lower than the character level will activate Legacy Loot Mode. On Legacy Loot Mode:
Dungeons are treated as if a full 5 players are present, providing an equivalent amount of loot
Raids act as though there are 20 players in the raid, providing an equivalent amount of loot
All items on the loot tables have a chance to drop, not just ones that are designated for the character’s spec
If multiple players are in the party, loot is split among those players, but is tradeable
It is possible for multiple of the same item to drop off of a boss encounter
These changes allow transmogrification collectors a greater opportunity at items from older content. Legacy Loot Mode was turned on with the Battle for Azeroth Pre-Patch.
If the content is of a higher level then loot settings would be on personal loot, where you will only receive loot for your character with a maximum of 1 item per boss."
Now I am even more confused… isn’t that saying Legacy loot would only be WoD and before then? ARGH!
If your going for mounts then I would not run all your 5 guys in one raid a week. But take each one by itself on it’s own raid. You will get 5 chances a week instead of only 1.
Mounts in raids can only drop once, Adding more guys does not increase the chance. Running the raid 5 times in a week does give you more chances.
This!
Mounts are not guaranteed to be on any particular mobs loot table for the instance you have queued for. Making 5 different runs gives you a shot at 5 different loot tables.
On this account, I ran Kara on 5-8 characters a week for over three years before I saw the Horseman’s mount drop. Over 500 runs in total.
and you are SURE about this for ALL expansions from BFA and before? According to the above that isn’t the case for BFA and Legion… sorry to keep asking but what I am reading and hearing isn’t the same answer.
Yes this is for all expansions. Always have a chance for the mount to drop. Running 5 toons in a raid does not increase the chance in anyway shape or form. So if your reading that some place else it is not correct.
I’ve heard others in the forums posting how they have toons lined up all over the world…raids, WBs, dungeons, rares and log in with how ever many they have to do that one job individually each week. I’ve figured it’s just one per group.
It doesn’t work like diablo 2 /players 8 magic find. Wouldn’t that be nice lol
The only benefits of running 4 or more toons in an instance are to prevent waste by having each armor class in the instance (e.g. Tusks dropping on non-plate toons), grinding profession drops where each toon has a unique profession, and other special cases like specific achievements or a guaranteed Kara dragon mount.
Yes that is true but he is going for mounts and the extra toons does not increase that. Only on current content unless your going for mostly for transmog. But it already said legacy raids drop loot like there is 20 people in the raid instead of 1
