How vastly different is leveling in each spec. The idea and dual wielding is a lot more entertaining, but unless they differences compared to arms is negligible then I’ll just stay in arms. Also been fantasizing about leveling in prot and maybe doing a dungeon here and there. Thoughts on the leveling experiences per spec? Thanks for the insight!
Prot leveling outside of dungeons isn’t actually horrible.
Throw on a weapon in your OH and you don’t do horrible dps.
Fury atm is probably best for leveling because you get sweeping strikes and so on, arms is really only a good choice if you expect to have to fend off a lot of horde while leveling or you just enjoy PvP more. Going 2H fury until you get the hit gear for dual wielding is underrated.
Prot actually does decent dps (especially if you can manage to get a bit of shield block value for big shield slams) and can definitely solo pretty well.
At 63 you can have Mortal Strike and Improved Slam 2/2, which is absolutely awesome for leveling. It takes a lot more work than Fury, but I found it a ton of fun. I also had a pocket Resto Shaman dualbox so it was just absolutely hilarious leveling with that, the size of pulls, and enormous damage output.
I just did 2h fury to 40 then switch over to arms after. Honestly could probably get away with fury all the way didn’t seem too weak to me at all.
Thanks for the info. Sorry if I’m misunderstanding, but 2H fury being underrated before hit gear meaning it’s actually better than people think?
A lot of people just go dual wield regardless, but 2H fury in my experience is far more effective until you start getting hit gear. Especially so with sweeping strikes.
I feel arms starts out as “okay” and picks up once you get to 24 and receive execute. From there it only goes up as you get slam, WW, and Mortal Strike. At that point my warrior became an absolute monster.
I leveled a prot/arms hybrid in Classic. Mainly tanked dungeons. Grinding was slow, but I survived more and could take multiple mobs ez… Just took a bit lol
My Prot warrior solo’d well enough. The two hand “rotation” of 3x sunder armor with a solid 2 hander and using execute to finish your fights while using Heroic Strike as a rage dump worked great. For the first 30 levels I didn’t need the HS dump. I think it was my mid 40’s as the WW weapon started to slow down. People underestimate how decent sunder and HS spam with a fast one hand weapon can actually be as well.
