So, on this thread:
https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/permaban-rogue-mw-monk-players/628052/111
starting at around answer 87 a hunter, a monk and a DH are telling me that rogue is the most braindead class to play in arenas.
I started playing wow around 4-5 months ago and tried various specs, i have a havoc DH 476, a WW monk 473 and rogue 475 among other less geared toons and honestly to me the rogue is easily the most difficult to play due to how much i need to manage and take care of during a game, and the rotation is not that easy either so it sums up.
Anyway, my question is: would you fine rogue players agree with those guys who believe we are the easiest, most brain dead class to play? If so why? and if not how would you rate assa rogues on a scale from most difficult to easiest spec?
If you answer to this question please post from your rogue account so i can check your rating. Just want to have some informed answers from people with vast experience who excel in arenas.
Thanks.
Personally I think a really good rogue can carry the game but also it’s really easy to just kidney shot off CD and get carried by your team mates as well
I don’t really think rogue life ever gets super challenging, because sometimes just kidneying off CD is efficient but there is potential to carry the game

assass yeah
really really really really low skill floor
you can succeed doing very very very little and knowing very very very little
but there’s absolutely things good assass rogues can do to carry games and their utility kit is huge
esp if you’re a nelf

Unfortunately (and unlike other classes) the pruning that rogues have gone through has removed abilities/thought that players needed to have to climb rating as a rogue.
For example, combo point management and redirect. Rogue never has to worry about this and is free to focus kidney a healer for one of the best CCs/stuns in the game.
Another example would be getting knocked out of stealth. This used to be a huge concern and would set the rogue team behind if you got lucky with flare/blizzard/well timed bladestorm etc. Right now, subterfuge completely negates this weakness. I am unsure why this talent continues to exist - it is extremely overloaded, not only does it allow you to use your stealth abilities 3 sec after breaking stealth, it also causes “Garrote to deal 80% increased damage and have no cooldown when used from Stealth and for 3 sec after breaking Stealth” Like why is that last part even necessary. Seems like 2 talents in one.
Another example would be energy management/pooling. Something that does not exist anymore.
So what we have today is assassination rogue. Boils down to a PvE mongo class that has a 6 sec undispellable stun on a 20 sec CD, insane DoT pressure with a fairly simple rotation, auto-applied snares, ability to throw knife to apply snare, shadowstep, blind -> sap, cheap shot an entire time if revealed from stealth, insane mobility in general (rogue is unkiteable), tools to deal with both melee and ranged DPS (evasion and cloak) all topped off with 9x Gushing Wounds.
They have almost no weakness other than “being squishy” which is such a small trade-off for the toolkit you get. I mean look at enhancement shaman, they’re squishy too but absolute dogsh. Plus rogues synergize well with locks, mages, spriest meaning you can’t go completely mongo on the rogue at times as you will get blown up by their teammate.
TL;DR - Rogues have never gone through a true pruning and have arguably the best toolkit in the game. The stuff they did lose just made the class much much easier to play.

Very similar to Mages in that respect. Only thing I’d argue that was pruned from Mages that had constant and significant gameplay implications was Deep Freeze (Alter Time is for losers and therefore will be ignored). Mages and Rogues have always been and likely always will be the highest skillcap DPS classes in the game.
Assa Rogues right now can be played very successfully with little skill, but it’s hardly more “braindead” than DH. Personally, I think Cata Rogue was easier to play than Rogue right now (if we’re ignoring corruption, because it’s given every class including Rogue a lot of extra braindead-ness).
