I was hanging around with my guildie outside of BRM. There was a steady stream of mage bots 60 with 60% ground mount, similar build and gear. I wanted to know if I mass report these bots could it lead to account action on my end? We were fighting them, and I am almost positive they are bots. In fact, there were horde players farming alliance mage bots on their end while leaving me and my guildie alone.
Nothing will happen to u honestly fighting them is just a wate of your time just report and move on.
So reporting suspected bots is always good, and while you might not see the results of the reports, many of them can lead to account actions being taken. However don’t get frustrated if nothing seems to happen immediately, or even in several weeks. Blizzard bans bots in waves, they find that to be the most effective. Second the bot cartel, will almost immediately create new bots often with similar names, they do this to confuse the issue and make it appear as if nothing happens, they want you to feel your reports do nothing as they want to fly under the radar. Lastly Blizzard will only take action on an account where they can document evidence which they feel identifies the accounts as bots.
Now people will come and say it does not good, however I know you can get bots banned as I have submitted hundreds of reports which I know have led to a large number of bots being banned, however it is frustrating as you know that no sooner do you get rid of them, a new batch will be created. That all said, don’t get caught up in reporting them to the point it kills your enjoyment of the game, reporting is as simple as right clicking their name, and then clicking a few choices, so simply report and move on.
No
PvP situation has a PvP soution. If they aren’t bots they will leave, or get a group and fight back.
I like to mind control the bots off the ubrs chain and onto the ledge above the lava. They used to all get stuck, but recently i noticed some use the unstuck feature by randomly dying in place once they get mcd down there, so they must have updated their software. Some straight flyhack back up.
Just remember that the bots can’t get you banned for nothing. Don’t fall for the bot propaganda, pvp them and report them.
No, that is not how it works. There are two categories for account actions:
- Chat/Social infractions which depend on player reports to raise it to the GM level for review. A report captures the name, server, chat channel, time, date, and chat logs. There is an automated SQUELCH that can happen if enough unique accounts report your chat at the same time - that is lifted when a GM reviews it, or the GM will apply an actual penalty as needed.
- Anti-Cheat actions depend on detection by Blizzard’s anti-cheat software and methods used by the Hacks team. It does not directly depend on player reports - as in you report BobBot today and he is gone tomorrow. They use the reports as part of their ongoing investigations into changes in botting software, automation, exploits, etc. Just like antivirus software gets updated as new threats emerge. Player reports help with the research that leads to Anti-Cheat software updates - if the Hacks team finds it is valid.
The only time a player is penalized for reporting is if they take part in an campaign to abuse the reporting system. Such as a streamer asking all their followers to report them for a simple line. That will trigger the ancient auto squelch (put in for spammers). However that abuse of the reporting system then resulted in a Suspension. That is not common, but can happen.
This is very true.
Report all you wish as long as the report is in good faith. I would avoid using chat channels to talk to the bots/taunt them/tell them you are reporting. It is not worth your time and it gives others a chance to report you for spam.
DO PvP them if you wish.
