Best I can do is describe a problem that doesn’t sound like a problem.
Questie is tracking quests I don’t have. For instance, Draenei starter zone. To the Southeast of Azure Watch, there is a “!” marker as if there is a quest giver. So I go out there for the “Lost Draenei Youngling”…nothing there. I look at the data from questie and it tells me that the quest starts in Azure Watch. To the Northwest of my position.
That’s not the problem. It makes perfect sense for the quest to start in Azure Watch.
But why is the marker all the way down there, and how do I stop it from tracking the end of quests I haven’t picked up yet?
Kind of confusing to just go wandering around wondering why there are so many quests in the middle of nowhere.
I tried looking at all the settings, the closest thing I get is “turn of tracking in unexplored areas”…but as soon as it becomes discovered, the quest comes back.
So this particular quest has multiple spawn locations it seems.
So questie likely shows all or just a singular location.
Same applies to patrolling mobs/NPCs and spawns that drop quest starter item. It will have “!”. but nothing will be on that spot.
Good rule of thumb is just to check wowhead for that.
On here, you can find links to discord and Github. That’s a better place to seek help. It’s a very specific question and the odds are, people here won’t have the answer for you. https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/questie
Forums are for all things under the header…in this case all things Wrath related.
They asked a pretty benign question and if your response would of stopped at offering discord or bug reports as an option for potential avenues of better information it would of been fine.
I see no problem asking a general question to tap into potentially thousands of players experience for a solution to a question/issues. Especially since this breaks up the monotony of “why no Wrath era” or “I hate blizzard” type posts we see every day.
As an additional bonus I personally have learned things from browsing others people’s questions like this when I didn’t even have any problems (yet) myself.
Basically why condescend or belittle others when a simple " hey this might be better…" will work, or you can just scroll down.
They got the correct answer - check their community. I will work on how I get the message through. I’m just too used to mktaar.
And the forums can be used to ask any questions but its very unlikely anyone is doing an addon tech support here that a dev can easily answer. Its 99% complaining or fighting for Cata.
Also pro tip: get rid of Questie and use ingame quest helper + wowhead.
