[Quest] Pole Position Posidriss not working

TWW - Prepatch

When accepting the Pole Position Posidriss quest in the dragon daycare in Valdrakken, the loading screen for the race location in Kalimdor come up and is immediately replaced by the loading screen for DF and you appear back in Valdrakken. However, the game thinks the race is on and will eventually time out at which point the DF loading screen appears and you are placed up in the sky off the coast of The Waking Shores near Wingrest Embassy.

If you try restarting the race before the timeout occurs, it will load in the race location in Mount Hyjal but almost immediately kick you back to Valdrakken and eventually the sea.

Yeah, Im having the exact same issue.

I’m having the same issue and it’s the only daily I need to complete the achievement, how soon do you think it will take for it to be fixed?

I managed to get the quest completed by accepting it while on a flying mount, waiting for the failed teleport, using the stopwatch item, getting off my mount while in mount hyjal, getting teleported back to valdrakken, then interacting with Celetiros and asking to be returned to the race. I was then the emerald whelpling, and after a moment was able to fly normally.

It’s jank as hell but I also needed this as the last quest for the achievement so at least I got it in the end.

Bumping!

This is the last quest I need for the meta.

For me, I ended up in Forbidden Reach falling down to [my imminent death] had I not switched immediately to flight form (was on my other druid).

2nd attempt: I stayed mounted, and restarted the quest, I ended up in Waking Crest / Scalecracker Peak. On a slow free fall but still on my mount.

I can confirm that this works and is janky.

I am having the same issue. I never get anything but 3 loading screens, then I am falling in to the water off the coast of Waking Shores. Additionally, it is switching my flying style from normal back to dragon riding. I have tried accepting this quest with normal riding style as well as dragon riding and I get the same result every time. Falling off the coast of Waking Shores.

I had this - it seemed to take a few tries and not being on a mount when accepting, but did get it.

Having the same issue. Also was the last one I needed for the meta achievement.

I believe I was on a flying mount each time I tried, with Skyriding enabled. Didn’t get the chance to try testing it without being on a mount.

Other than falling into the water, today was the first time it had me falling onto land further south next to a lava river. Luckly, I didn’t die, or I’d been really pissed as I take great strides to not die in content. Been meaning since Tuesday to see if this was a known issue and seeing as I just almost died to landing on land made me actually check.

But it seems since the 11.0 patch release this issue isn’t on the list to be expedited and you just have to click the port back to start of race before you get ported to falling. I still not figured out if it is being on a mount, shapeshift or just normal as it hasn’t mattered.

I had completed this right before the patch, but as of the patch the achievement is now incomplete with only the Pole Position Posidriss missing when I tried doing the race the same error described by OP is happening to me …

Dismounting and and removing any forms like druid shapeshift or shaman ghost wolf forms might help

Tried this again today. While being on a mount, it still teleported me to the middle of the ocean.

However, when I made sure I wasn’t mounted and didn’t have any transformations or other buffs on, the quest worked perfectly fine.

So, at least from my testing, the bug seems to be related to being mounted.

This darn quest hasn’t even shown up for me for 3 or 4 days. Is that normal? The other races popped up right after I unlocked the corresponding whelp! It’s my last quest for my puppy

Unfortunately, while a lot of people report accepting it dismounted works, it doesn’t work universally.

Quest bugs out for me either mounted or dismounted, and no matter what my flight style is set to. Done a full UI reset, no addons, even tried on another machine and nothing works. So frustrated. I had hoped they would have fixed it in the patch this week but they did not.

Still isn’t fixed; but from my testing, I will say when it finally does work, the game does auto flip me from Steady Flight to Sky Riding. This makes me believe the game requires you to have it toggled onto Sky Riding. But I’ve tried mounted, normal form, shapeshifted, Sky Riding, Steady Flight and un-mounted. It’s definitely a weird bug, and it’s hard to nail down the exact cause but it started when Sky Riding / Steady Flight became a toggle.

It flips me back to dragonflying when it fails too, that’s why I started playing with that toggle when I was testing all the conditions to try to find one magic combination of conditions to make it work. It’s definitely a strange bug, and it’s unfortunate they aren’t prioritising getting it fixed with the time limit on A World Awoken.

Quest still broken. Tried the fixes listed here, I still get brought back to daycare before being teleported to the Waking Shore and falling.

I honestly thought it was fixed as I had a couple days of it loading no problem. Most the time I wasn’t on a mount, on sky riding toggle and not transformed by a spell. Today my shaman was on a mount and didn’t have sky riding enabled, and took 5 tries to get in w/ each time was a various issue that caused it to bug out.

So, continuing to do this from the “Day Care”, if you are toggled into “Steady Flight”, it will now auto flip you into “Sky Riding” and the quest so far works without porting you to a random location in Dragon Flight. Upon exiting the quest, you then have to flip your toggle back to “Steady Flight” if that is your preferred method of travel.

I think the reason that this became a problem is unlike Dragon Flight expansion there was no toggle, so you were able to have both methods available and once the toggle got added the game was experiencing hick-ups as it tried to check if you were in the correct flight mode to do the race. At least for me it was finally resolved, and I am interested if this is still the case for others.
