Quest Marks (Exclamation) Does not Appear on NPC Heads

Hey, guys! Somehow, the “exclamation mark” (quest mark) is not showing anymore at the head of NPCs. When I put the mouse over the NPC, the Exclamation Mark appears, but as soon as I put the mouse pointer in another place, it disappears. The Question Mark (the one todeliver quest) is ok, the only problem is with the exclamation.

Just for context
OBS 1: I’m using Vuhdo Addon, TidyPlates, and OmniCC. I did not change anything in the configuration menu or interface. Anyone knows how to fix it Thanks

OBS 2: The questions are not low level quests.

If they are not low level, I’d try turning off some mods, or even fully reset your ui.

Indeed. If the base UI wasn’t showing quest markers to players, the forums would be awash with this particular complaint.

You can surely try just turning them off, but if that doesn’t work, try the UI reset. Addon corruption can remain even when they are turned off; you only really deal with the stock UI when you do a full reset:

this is going to depend on what level you are, and which quests you’re trying to do.

have you enabled the trivial quest tracking to see if it changes anything?

Is that for all NPC’s with quests? Or just select ones?

If all, it sounds like a UI issue but if they are not showing up after you have tried resetting your User Interface, Badbadbad, I’d report it as a bug.

Ty, everyone. It was the “Trival Quest” thing. I appreciate all the help.

The UI by default hides quests that’re far below your level.

You can toggle tracking via the minimap menu.

Adding to this because I think it’s important in case anyone else runs into this problem.

It is true that the UI by default hides quests that are far below your level. The problem arises when this behavior changes.

Ex: Quests that offered full XP at level 49 (post SL squish) and we’re still visible at 50 and offering full XP, became marked as Trivial upon hitting level 51 (the XP it offered was 850 out of 21500 for a full level, so not insignificant).

This became problematic because 1) it goes against the common believe that trivial quests are significantly below your level and/or worth no experience and 2) upon ticket submission, there was no suggestion or mention of this being the behavior by the Game Masters that were assigned to my ticket.

Instead, I received the typical suggestions of clearing the interface, cache, and WTF folders. I even went so far as to reinstall the game. Upon finally being able to identify the quest giver and complete the quest, oddly the next quest in the chain was visible to myself. So I thought, designers be damned, it was truly a glitch and I managed to get through it.

However, the problem came back again (I was working on the main quests needed toward unlocking the Zandalari trolls, if that gives anyone reference, and my first problem started with Fuel for the Voodoo which was visible on my map, but not the minimap or with visual LOS of the questgiver.)

It was only after this that I pleaded with General chat and very quickly got a response to try showing Trivial quests.

Personally, I believe this is something that should be fixed. I understand the push for people to level to the cap in current content, but I think there are better ways to achieve this. With the level squish, the threshold of significantly below your level has obviously changed to something relatively insignificant. Most people would ideally rush into new content anyway.

TLDR; before you start resetting files and assuming it’s your addons fault, show your trivial quests.

The customer support forum agents do not collect feedback to forward to the devs.

I would suggest using the in-game feedback tool found under the help menu to have a suggestion sent directly to the devs.

Not sure what you mean by “common belief”. Maybe you believed this, but it’s not accurate. Trivial quests are quests that are irrelevant to your current expansion level. For example, Outland quests when not using Chromie Time become irrelevant after level 35. So when you ding 36, they become trivial for the purposes of tracking them.

It depends what you asked of the GM, and even so, resetting the UI is always a first step of troubleshooting, much like making sure someone has the computer plugged in and the monitor turned on. They can’t move to subsequent steps until there is a fresh, unaltered UI in place.

Fair suggestion. You’ll want to post your thoughts in the appropriate forum (General or UI Forum), or use the in-game Suggestion tool. Also include how you think it should work, and why. But again…

This has never been the threshold. It used to be called “Low Level Quests”, for sure, but that never meant “significantly below”. There is always a cutoff, and it’s really relative to your individual character. If the cutoff is level 5, and you hit level 6, then it’s considered “low level”.

You also have to think about new players. Someone jumping in, grabbing Shadowlands, boosting to level 50…might not know, and could be sent to Goldshire to kill boars. It helps players (even veteran players) understand what they should be doing when new content hits.

Change an xpac, and everything before is trivial. That’s not even new.
