The quest “Hands-On Experience” is broken. While trying to excavate, the progress bar resets to 0%, and the water puddles disappear. The puddles are still there, but not visible, so if you randomly run around the chest, the temp will drop. However, eventually, the chest disappears and the dust vortex re-appears, and you can no longer excavate until you log out and log back in.

The puddles disappeared some time before the excavation did. And the temperature display seemed to be out of sync with the action (like the temperature bar saying it’s too hot to dig but I’m still getting progress).
And then the artifact vanished, reverting to just the dirt swirl, but using the fire totem didn’t uncover the artifact again; it pointlessly set up the dig UI with the temperature display, but there was nothing to dig.

No puddles to offset fire. Chest just resets.

The intro quest to a primary new feature of this patch is bugged. Awesome.

Got it to 100% after relogging.
It then promptly reset on me.

The puddles were gone for me. Tried running around and nothing happened.
Same for me.
OK so here is what i found…if you exit the game completely and go back in it resets and works as it should … but if your too slow it will bug out again and you will have to exit and relog again

Yep. Bunch of people standing around it. I walked back to the other npc and it reset me to 0% from 70. Ouch.
You can’t walk away from it or it resets. Frustrating. Guess I will have to wait until less people are doing it or the bug gets squashed.
Quest is also bugged for me now. Got to around 40% then puddles are gone forever, logging in/out and exiting in/out does nothing. I’m also constantly on fire even when standing where puddles are supposed to be or when it’s “raining”. Hope it gets fixed at some point.

Few things I noticed, the bar UI isn’t accurate (Being well outside the limits and still able to mine the chest at times but sometimes not), and might be a coincidence don’t activate the fire totem while you’re near one of the water spots, it seems to really bug the chest out that way from appearing. Also that the water isn’t doing any favors because it is suppose to lower the fire but also ends up resetting the progress, why though? On top of it, starting the quest over does NOT reset the entire moment, the moment the chest disappears, you are forced to not only drop the quest but log out for a good deal of time, 30 seconds or so, then get back on and grab the quest again in hopes it’ll play nice (Trying this on my 6th time so far).
