And the Vulpera have shown no intelligence beyond that of any other average race. They’re nowhere near the same level as Gnomes and Goblins, beyond their literal height.
Please, oh wise one, show me how engineering is profitable.
Last I checked a vast majority of the gear engineers can make is low quality or BoP and the items we can make aren’t really worth very much for sale.
People take engineering for the utility. The battle res, the speed boost, to a lesser extent the mailbox, repair bots, portable transmog station, and jumper cables for nonressing classes. Some people allegedly use the bombs in combat.
This does not change the fact that it has a dumb name. It is also literally an engineer but as a class.
It could be called literally anything other than what it is, and i would think higher of it.
Machinist
Technician
Mechanic
ArtificerSomething that doesnt sound like it would be on the box of a Fisher Price toy
If Blizzard views the name as inappropriate, they’ll name it something else. You’re making a mountain out of a molehill.

MOCKERY:
Demon hunter is a corny name. It is like naming a class " ZOMBIE SLAYER"
Tinker will stay because the term is used all through Warcraft.
It isn’t going to be changed to Mechanic or Machinest.
That’s what this thread is about!
I really hate the tinker idea that gets thrown around sometimes. The whole magitek/steampunk/feltek thing really isn’t for me. I kinda hold my nose on it for most things in game, but of all the ideas I’ve seen recently for classes, this one is the only one I feel negatively about.

I’m not going into a deep dive with you on what items to make in order to turn a profit in Engineering. Literal guides come out each expansion explaining that to you.
You seem to be missing the point; You can’t perform class roles with engineering, and engineering doesn’t contain ANY Tinker abilities, so telling someone to roll a profession isn’t a good argument against a Tinker class.

I actually prefer this to DH, Dragonbabe, and Robophile. I could see me playing some ZS. But that’s just vanilla Paladin.
Exorcism + Divine Wrath in EPL
Tinker. Boring beyond all hell. An over glorified engineer. The only benefit to being a tinker would be the idea we’d have another class on mail who might also used range weapons, which would be healthy for the game.

Different people like different things. Imagine that.
I mean… note the thread title. The question was asked. And it’s being answered.
Then you learn it was bait, as OP just arguing with “Tinker sucks” comments.
Is good bait tho.
I would like a variety of new specs for classes.
a) Warrior Gladiator stance to return, I never played it that much and it is pretty much prot but I think it could be made different enough to be fun.
b) Rogues have a dagger throwing spec. There is a slight hint of this of this now with the nectrolord spike that is the covenant ability in the game. This would play more like how the shadows mantle plays in D3.
c) Battle mage type spec. This could play as a melee or tank spec. If it played as a tank spec it would work that magic shields and barriers to mitigate there damage as well as close quarter spells to hold threat or do damage. one again an example of this is a D3 spec that uses tempest blade.
d) a spec like what lord Godfrey does. I believe he is a shadow priest who channels that shadow power through the bullets in his pistols. That is pretty awesome to me so a spec that revolves around that and accompanying that I think would be a blast.
I don’t think they thought it was going to go this way.

COMMENTARY: I prefer the Zandalari name for demon hunter " Daemonic" over DH.
magitek/steampunk/feltek
Honestly hope it doesn’t involve magic at all.
Tinker should be a non magical class simply running on oil, grit and gears.

Sounds to me like you don’t have anything to back up your claims that the engineering theme is to make money instead of to craft gadgets.
You seem to be missing the point; You can’t perform class roles with engineering, and engineering doesn’t contain ANY Tinker abilities, so telling someone to roll a profession isn’t a hood argument against a Tinker class.
You seem to be missing the point.
The slur class name is literally encroaching on the theme of engineering, which is to make gadgets that are useful in and/or out of combat.
And the name sounds childish. And it’s problematic. And people keep using it in spite of this.
And the people who peddle the idea are extremely grating. They’re like the high elf fans of class demands.
Frankly, twelve classes is a nice round number. I don’t think any more are necessary.
And dislike. This isn’t meant to be a decision meeting, the OP asked for a collection of opinions. This is mine.
Id prefer something dragon-y or necromancer-y over Tinker or Time Mage.
But really, I’d rather they do something completely new.
All tech in WoW runs on magic.
I would like a variety of new specs for classes.
This.
I like the idea of giving more classes additional specs as flavors rather than adding another class.

REBUTTAL
Entirely false.
What magic are these running on? Unless you’re calling science magic.
