QUERY: What new class theory do you despise?

I don’t really feel anything for the commonly suggested ones from fans.

I don’t understand the Vulpera-Tinker connection. Other than “they’re little.” They’re scrappy and resourceful, sure… but inventive? Intelligent? I wouldn’t define them by either, at least no moreso than any other race.

The ones where the new class isn’t wearing mail

COMMENTARY: Humans for most of our existence did nothing but roam. When agriculture was discovered society propelled.

Now we know how to make rocks speak to each other. Vulpera could see goblin tech and have it simply awaken something inside them.

Wow, can you see the future or something?

Tinkers/Tinkerer.

It encroaches on the engineering thematic niche. It’s also pretty boring.

The name tinker/tinkerer is problematic both in how certain definitions of the word imply a maker of amateurish unskilled nature and the origins of the word referring to indigenous Irish traveller tinsmiths. It’s apparently had such a history of derisive use that it’s considered insulting in the region the term originated from, similar to the g slur for Romani people.

And it’s also reminiscent of gnomes.

Meanwhile mechanic is reminiscent of blue collar working class people covered in grease working on cars which is a little hot, which is why the pinups of fit hot people working on cars genre is a thing.

People advocating for tinkers/tinkerers are also grating and I have ignored several of them.

I’d like talents to not suck. And some secondary role choices for the four “Damage-only” classes. I mean otherwise, the core class and skill feedback loops are really good.

Specifics... I think I'd like to see a Health Funnel build to allow Warlock to heal, a Golem customizing spellcaster to allow Mage to tank, a ballad buffing Bard-like Rogue to heal... Which might mean a tank hunter, using pet interception as a mitigation tactic and CC tool.

Demon Hunter nor Monk should have ever been added, but those genies are out of the bottle.

Engineering’s thematic is constructing items for sale. The Tinker class’ thematic is using technology to complete class roles (questing/PvP/instances/raiding).

Then call it a Mechanic, Gadgeteer, Inventor, Machinist, Mekgineer, Siegecrafter, Artificer, Technician, etc.

It’s actually Goblin-based.

Tell me you’ve never taken the engineering profession without telling me you’ve never taken the engineering profession.

Tinker.

From the name to the idea of it. It’s an engineer but made into a class. It doesn’t help that the fans of this class look at pretty much anything as absolute proof that they’ll be a new class in the next expansion, and have been doing this for years.

Dragonsworn is next. It’s not exciting. It’s usually just a melee fire mage in practice in all other media that have “Dragon Knights” or whatever.

I would like to see this game’s take on a bard. Could be good, could be bad. I feel like they’ve been dropping some hints about it through this expansion. Lot of NPCs talking about the power of music, and then the sudden lore drop about how musically inclined Lirath Windrunner was in the sylvanas book.

Necromancer would have been good for this expansion, but the time has passed and i don’t think it’s coming.

Would this be an example of you talking about yourself? Making items and crafts is exactly what engineering does.

If you hilariously believe that you can quest and raid with just engineering items, feel free to explain.

If you hilariously believe that the purpose of the engineering profession is to make money, feel free to explain.

Your slur class name idea is weak.

Incorrect; It’s a WC3 hero made into a class. Just like Death Knights, Monks, and Demon Hunters before it.

So could Orcs. And Tauren. And Undead. And Worgen. And Dwarves. And Night Elves. And literally everyone else. That argument holds no water. People just think it suitable because they’re small. That’s it. And that rubs me the wrong way.

Then what do you believe it’s purpose is? If you’re not making money from engineering (or any profession) you’re doing it wrong.

Oh, and it’s Blizzards slur class name idea.

Holy Priest has Hymn. Elements are in-game to construct a fantasy. The problem is when Blizzard takes ownership of delivery of fantasy.

E.g. my enhancement shaman was my passion in Wrath and Cataclysm because I had given up hope on Monk becoming a real class. It had an Avatar-like feel, and I just made sure to equip fist weapons where possible. Then MoP launches and Monk with it. I pick up the class and try to devote myself to it, but in many ways the fantasy fell flat compared to what I had actually wanted and created in my own headspace. Monk progressively got worse (TeB changes in WoD, then identity theft from Havoc DH), until now where I hate the WoW imagining of the class. I’m still a die hard D&D Monk fan, but this dev team cannot deliver in current year.

COMMENTARY:
Yes because as a goblin you would need to use your intelligence to overcome the brawn that other races are inherently born with.

A Tauren could easily physical topel a beast like a Kodo , they have no need to make technology to overcome their problems.

NOTE: We flat out see Vulpera in world quest find items and tinker with them to make them useful, even their racial in itself is very tinker-esque and shows a trait for creative inguiety.

Bards are defined by the support role, in the same way that Priests are defined by healing and Rogues are defined by damage. WoW got rid of the support role as soon as they could. Thus, Bards should not be in WoW. I like the class to much to see it as butchered and lost as Shaman is.

This does not change the fact that it has a dumb name. It is also literally an engineer but as a class.

It could be called literally anything other than what it is, and i would think higher of it.

Machinist
Technician
Mechanic
Artificer

Something that doesnt sound like it would be on the box of a Fisher Price toy

I agree that the Trinity is a restricting constraint in this particular game, and probably across the current MMO landscape.

Heck, most MMO now are built disproportionately with the philosophy “everyone is a damage class”.

I think that’s why Bard cannot be delivered by Blizzard, especially as a standalone class. The only thing that might work is adding music to Rogues, replacing Slice and Dice with thematic songs or cants.
