Quartermaster's Bounty and Warlord's Trophy

When the lead director stated exactly how it works we should have a clear understanding of “intent”. I’d like to know at what point did this intent change from the lead directors intent. I highly doubt intent even changed at all and by the time their “oopsy” was discovered it’s just to big of a can of worms that isnt easy to rectify to all effected they just chose deceit instead. I dont mean CM/Bornakk deceit either. Deceit from the top, I actually feel bad for the communications middlemen. Ty for trying Bornakk

I’m almost upset no one has put the Picard Face-Palm meme up yet.

Players complained, and still complain that end game raiding is not the only viable late game gear path. Because they do, we get this…

24:25 into the video. 100% addresses this issue, namely pointing out that the design is not intended to be Sigil’s but in fact Trophies. This is directly from Ion himself…

The sigil should reward a random selection of fish.

yes please

I can give him the benefit of the doubt that he is speaking loosely, and that there’s not really a difference between the sigils and the trophies. The trophies are epic and the sigils are rare, but they do the same thing, and if I’m not mistaken - there is some overlap. A sigil earned by someone at 2500 (from trading coins) might be the same item level as a trophy earned by someone at 1800 (from random drop or weekly box). I think the trophies start at 400 item level, which is why a lot of people got the idea that they’d be getting 400ilevel trophies from coin trading without having any CR.

The problem we have, i think, comes into play when he’s referencing stuff like “appropriate item level”, and then speaking in terms of this system vs. a vendor system. He says that this is intended to be equivalent but “different” from a vendor. Which is why whether you call it a sigil or a trophy is kind of a moot point. In no way is the sigil that you get from your 10 tokens “appropriate” in item level, regardless of the rating you’re at. If it’s always going to be lower than even our base drops (which arguably are already too low in and of themselves when compared to pve gearing sources), it is not adequately satisfying the requirements of a replacement for a vendor.

I forgot about this interview. Especially hilarious how at 22:30 he talks about vendors and how they want to remove the “confusion” of getting a currency and going “somewhere in the world” to spend it.

The current system supposedly eliminates that while keeping all of the “upsides”, namely “control” and “determining the path of your character”.

You still go to an NPC “somewhere in the world” to get your reward. You still need a currency to get the reward. It’s just in the visual form of a progression bar rather than coins.

They also just added a currency to dungeons where you go to a vendor “somewhere in the world” to spend said currency on gear. Directly contradicting one of the reasons for removing the PvP vendors.

He then goes on to say you get different choices for rewards now. I capped my Paladin yesterday. There was a choice of two Protection weapons. Both had the EXACT same stats. One was a Sword. One was a Mace.

He also states you will be able to find all azerite traits on the PvP gear now. None of the PvP shoulders offered have Pack Spirit.

All of these contradictions and inaccuracies from 3 minutes of an interview. This is in addition to the trophy misinformation.

I don’t like to be an over dramatic conspiracy theorist when it comes to dev intentions, but this guy is either completely clueless about the game he is in charge of or is outright lying. Neither is good.

Thank God you guys got away from the vendor system! What a nightmare that was, trying to figure out where the NPC was. Also, having to use my brain to realize I needed to save points to buy the weapon when I unlocked it.

This system is much better.

If they changed their minds they should just tell us they changed their minds.

Mostly great points, but saying theres not really a difference between a rating 0 Sinster Battleborn Sigil and a rating 0 Warlords Trophy would be like saying there really no difference between getting a 380 instead of a 395/400

if blizzard thinks im too stupid to find a pvp vendor I must also be too stupid to keep subscribing

I used to think this too, then I read two different forums posts by people complaining about gear they got. Not knowing that said gear was a massive upgrade.

That isn’t what I said at all actually.

Lame. Really lame.
