List of quality of life changes that would make the PvP aspect of the game far more fun.
Rating increases should not be capped at 24 points. This was changed long ago to combat boosts, and the game has changed substantially. If I am playing 200+ MMR above my CR, I should be getting more points. This is especially true in Blitz.
Marks of Conquest need their value unironically quintupled. 50 Conq for completing 6 rounds of Shuffle is truly a slap in the face as a “reward”. At bare minimum when the conq cap is lifted, it should have its value increased to 250 conq per.
Gear should unlock after I purchase a piece. Ex.) If I buy weapons for any spec, all of the weapons should unlock for free. I should not feel the need to reroll a brand new shaman because I had to stack mastery as Rsham and Ele/Enh want haste. Same idea w/armor. If I buy a chest piece w/haste, the mastery one unlocks for free. Let me play my other specs.
Conquest should be transferrable once the cap is lifted. There should be no penalty for transferring it either, no idea why that’s a standard procedure, but it’s not needed. We have warbands allowing us to share an insane amount resources, why is Conq/Bloody Tokens not included here?
Enable practice shuffles, or non rated shuffles. Where you can still que up, but there’s no rating tied to it, let people have a place to practice where there is no pressure and they can ask questions/learn. This should be extremely easy since it was originally released as a non authentic rated mode from my memory? Or was that only Blitz?
Feel free to add your ideas or tell me mine are dumb, that’s fine.
• Rewards need to be spread out more instead of promoting path of least resistance; each bracket needs more unique rewards IE: Blitz recolored BfA s1/s2 elites, Shuffle Legend mount (not a recolored gladiator mount but unique rig), 3s recolored past elites etc.
• Tuning changes need to stop being revolved around AWC & need to happen every 2 weeks or so until we see some significant balance.
• Dynamic q or a LFG rework needs to happen for 2s/3s. (1+1+1, 2+1, 3); players are just too anti social nowadays & cry about being ‘gate kept’.
• Rating requirements should be based on the ladder per Tuesday instead of being a static rating all season; have it scale with the ladder while having a minimum rating it can fall to.
• Bring back Reforging just for PvP, in other words have it only activate when engaged in PvP combat so PvErs don’t complain.
but bring back shadowlands gearing, and make it as good as heroic ilvl gear(hero track)
this is really important for the health of the game. Everyone wants gearing to be easier but honestly, the game feels better when you have to work for your gear
by making gearing harder, not only is it more satisfying when you do get geared, but you also activate the sunken cost fallacy which makes people stick to the game longer AND less prone to reroll.
AND people will also play more just to get fully geared. As you can imagine, once you get geared there is less of an incentive to keep playing(esp if u already hit rating goals). most either stop playing or create a fotm alt at this point.
changing gearing back would create a more consistent and healthy ladder.
the gear being harder to get also means blizz can make it hero track gear, which means some pver’s would actually be interested in pvp gear at the start of the season, bringing new blood to pvp.
Usually when they do frequent tuning things often get better. Whenever they don’t is when the game just feels completely awful and then game starts to die.
I think WotLK’s PvP gearing system was superior to SL’s.
Still enlivened the brackets with incremental incentives to reach various ratings, but without providing massive advantages, and the ratings required were realistically achievable by the average casual.
(Yes, WotLK had a PvE gear in PvP problem, before anyone brings it up; that’s irrelevant.)
The PvE item level being rating gated or upgradeable to competitive PvE item levels is fine (to attract more players), but the PvP item level being upgradeable is unacceptable. Never want to see that again.
An important distinction here is the amount of honor required to upgrade. It was insane.
I’d sooner just stop PvPing altogether than have to go through that slog again.
I mean, I already wouldn’t do it because of how awful SL PvP was, but if they specifically brought back SL’s PvP gearing in the future - nah, I’m good.
