hello, I have been doing mostly PvP Rated stuff since the end of BfA, through Shadowlands and have been at the peak of my involvement with Rated PvP in the most recent expansion “dragon-flight”.
I currently sit content with 2 healers and 1 dps at weekly conquest cap and 4 other characters in full honor gear.
I find myself without any progressive gameplay after the short weekly conquest cap that only takes a few solo shuffle rounds to complete. Conquest cap and Vault cap in 4-6 solo shuffle rounds on 3 characters then im out of things to do PvP wise. A few weeks ago I started running some mythic +11-15’s for the PvP ilvl upgrade crests (gold ones) and the completion of the weekly normal raid for flightstones and silver crests, and thats all fine and dandy but it dosent’ really “scratch that itch” I have to earn progression for my participation in Rated PvP content. currently we can only earn 400conquest points per week, after the gate is open we can accumulate as much as we want upto 15,000 CQ points. but by the time the gate is open we will have a complete set of conquest lvl pvp gear anyway. so then having an “open conquest gate” really means nothing at all.
I really enjoy “getting into the game” for those handful of solo ques but the enjoyment seems really short lived.
If we rolled directly from the current model of a capped weekly gain into a higher ilvl bracket instead of “leaving the gates open” as I’ll call it, we could atleast bank on getting the limited weekly progression enjoyment and avoid “leaving the gates open” and having an extended period of time where there is no progression to be had at all.
Thanks for reading.
the weekly is 12 rounds of solo shuffle for my dh right now. that means 3 hours of queue time. why would anyone engage with pvp. clearly people do not want to play healers, just remove them from solo shuffle
I dont want any of those things. Rating is an over-rated way of showing off in the game, im just here to play. I chased rating for a while and found that the higher the rating got the crapper attitudes people had and the number of people with crappy attitudes skyrockets. It became something I had to mentally prepare myself for and learn how to deal with these kinds of people just to play a game. I dont chase mog’s or weap illusions. I just wanna pvp.
12 rounds of solo shuffle is just 2 games man. i’ve never had to wait more than 20 minutes for a que on my dps, and if i choose to heal a solo shuffle the que is less than 1 min 9times out of 10
let me re-phrase my comment “just wanna pvp” and say " I just wanna do rated PvP with some sense of weekly progression more than there currently is available" I think i said that above already though. but since im repeating myself, i might as well also add in again that a transition from current weekly progression into a new ilvl bracket/essentially a new season instead of having an extended period “with the gates open”/no weekly cap, we move directly into next season.
yes, pushing rating is technically a form of progression, but somewhere along the way I sat back and looked at it and pushing rating really meant less than nothing to me. I can see how its a bragging right for people. thats cool. right on brother. but its not like the sense of… mmmm… Character Progression? we get from gaining our 400 conquest points per week and applying those points towards a higher item level, which will in-turn make your character better. Rating dose nothing for my character.
I hope this post makes sense of what I meant by progression. Transmogs would be another example of what I do not consider Character Progression.
it stops when the gates open and players can earn as much conquest as they want without a cap. but if we transition immediately from the last week of cap into another season there wouldn’t be a stop. see what im saying?
Yeah, and I’m saying that we’re meant to be done with player power months before the season ends. If all you’re interested in is filling the weekly bar then just make another character.
Instead of just saying “progression” I said Character Progression. What I should have said from the beginning was “Player Power”
It would give a lot of PvP players something to work towards and feel a sense of accomplishment and… progression… if we werent meant to be done with player power months before season ends and insead just transitioned imediatley into next season. the same would probably apply to raiders and keystone runners aswell.
Again, we already have that for the first few months. There probably won’t be another period where we’re grinding for power every week until he season ends, hopefully.
I only play this game to grind for power. I guess we’re different…
that being said, I have played through all of the campaigns and done a lot of extra stuff in this game that has nothing at all to do with grinding for power. But the most enjoyment I get now adays is from that oh-so-short weekly mini-grind doing solo-shuffles. I think 5000 honor is a good cap for the vault. i think 400 conquest points is maybe a little shy but not bad weekly conquest cap. I guess all I have written in this post comes from a moment I had there the other night looking at my characters and thought to myself, the little bit of good true grind I get from a handfull of solo-shuffle rounds per character is going to be thrown to the side until next season starts. and its that in-between time that im not looking forward to.
thinking about it for a hot second here. if there was a way to exchange conquest and honor for straight up WoW gold that would probably make a small difference for some people. who knows, if the price conversion is the right price we might end up with more people playing normal battlegrounds and things like that. (just off the top of my head i’d set a conversion rate of something like 1 honor = 1 gold and 1 conquest = 2 gold).
just an idea from a nobody who loves playing this game.
Too many players expect endless gear upgrades to satisfy their need for progression. While that might work ini PvE for players who enjoy that kind of lame progression, in PvP it should not even be considered. Most players do not want gear to determine the outcomes of a fight.
WoW needs to make world pvp more meaningful beyond just getting gear, reskins, and other boring stuff we’ve been getting for years… I’m not going to regurgitate what I’ve said in numerous posts, but I will say world pvp should have some kind of impact on the world. At least have it impact a continent created solely for pvp purposes. That’s where the progression should come from.
I’m bored to tears with lame instanced pvp for rating and slightly better gear. It’s lazy game design and we’ve been doing it for at least a decade.
hallelujah!
well said!
10/10!
I stand on your side!
although everything i have said so far in this post has been about power progression I would be just as happy to see something completely different and new as long as it gives me that same feeling. time and time again I find my self hitting this wall where I am “grasping at straws?” just to find a reason to keep playing…
… until next season starts…
Right at the top of this thread, in my introduction, i mentioned how many characters I had and their progression status.
still irelevant.
looks like your just champing at the bit to get the last word in for whatever reason.
would it make you happy if I just said “im wrong?” even though this is not a post with a right or wrong answer?
