I’m in the same boat. I barely get upgrades as it is and my best pieces are cloak, boots and legs. After every pvp match i get a cloak. This week is legs and the last 2 weeks I’ve gotten boots from the chest…
Next week it will be packed since Trinkets are spastic to come by and you have to farm specific Mythic + bosses to get them that have low drop rates.
Blizzard sees no issues with this strange design as it artificially extends the length of the content.
Much appreciated.
I’m sure am amazed at how much more simple it is to figure out how this system works as opposed to oh I dunno… a vendor…
I like this, good idea since you know they’re reading. I have 1 friend that would resub if they added them back in, and myself so there’s another two.
The excuses that have been made for lack of PvP vendors have been terrible.
Players making mistakes? Please, there’s a vendor buyback window of 2 hours PLAYED time.
Hard to find? In MoP there was a spot on the map. In WoD the vendors were at the hub (Ashran).
Besides, I’m willing to bet a lot of players filled up their Conquest bar and don’t even realize they did or know where to turn it in. Don’t think there’s much of a difference there.
I can’t tell if he really thinks those are valid excuses or if he’s just making things up for validation.
Linking his irrational reasoning why we can’t have them doesn’t help answer the real reason we can’t have them back.
What I think is funny is this - with a vendor, I could preview what my options were in game, think about which one I was going to get and plan out ahead of time. With the new system, I fill up my conquest bar, go to turn it in, have four options presented to me that I have to chose from to finish the quest. So I either have to wait until I have time to write everything down to then research on wowhead or somewhere else before picking my quest reward. And there is no good way to balance, i’m at the mercy of the schedule. If I do other content or get random drops of the same slot piece that’s scheduled that week, I can’t change my decision, I’m locked in. I can’t like decide because I got that nice titanforged pants drop from the M+ I ran for the week to change my conquest item from pants to gloves or something.
BUT for Azerite gear for PVEers, they get to see their options up front, the prices, plan it out if they want a specific piece (more expensive) or take a random one (cheaper) and etc.
So PVEers can handle the old PVP vendor system, but PVPers can’t???
That’s what really gets me irritated.
The answer Ion gave as to why no PVP vendors is absolutely ridiculous. Somehow he doesn’t understand that filling up the conquest bar to get the item they want us to have isnt the same as using currency to choose not only which slot, but also the secondary stats as well. Apparently its too confusing to know where to go spend currency, so instead of making it so the currency tells you (Redeem at so and so in org/sw) they came up with a system that everyone is asking to be changed but it some how magically is better than the vendors we want.
Starting to think it’s just a poor way to timegate pieces of PvP gear.
Last week I got two helms (one out of my chest), both of which I won’t consider using until I have 6 more levels of azerite power.
So it intentionally feels bad and unrewarding.
Instead of just having currency that I gained to put towards something I wanted…
It could be so simple (developmentally and for the players), yet it’s over complicated and made to not feel fun.
I honestly haven’t been paying attention… but what exactly happens once you’ve gotten 500 conquest now? Does it just stop accruing until the next week?
What a idiot Ion is - not an idiot just wants to continue ruining PvP for everyone. Your system sucks period.
The PVP tourny realm already has venders for everything. Blizzard could easily just add them to live. The reasoning for why they took them out was just dumb.
If you do your Conquest every week it will stop accumulating. But Conquest is set up so that if you haven’t done it there is a catch up system so you can fill up the bars you have missed out on.
But yeah, if you are current on your Conquest rewards it will say you got Conquest but it won’t count toward your bar and go into the Twisting Nether basically.
How many posts does it take to get a blue post or to convince Ion to change his mind?
My friends are dwindling by the day.
Apparently these vendors are “too complex” for our simple minds to comprehend spending currency to purchase gear. As such, our request has been denied in favor of a progression path with predeterminated rewards and zero player control. Aren’t you thankful?
If people can’t find loot vendors they don’t deserve the loot. Lets be real.
Just add a PvP gear vendor in already. The logic behind not having them is so insane.
The game has had vendors in it since 2004. Not being able to find a vendor is never an excuse to not have one. Silly Ion, thinking that was an actual answer.
What’s the big deal with this issue that Blizzard won’t put these in???
Honestly the answers they gave at the Q&A didn’t really make sense. I know most people want a CHOICE of which gear they would like to have or to replace something that is low ilv or to make up for a piece of gear that is really trash and not having to wait weeks or months for that piece to come up.
JUST GIVE US THE VENDORS? It doesn’t cost you anything Blizzard, it might win you a few more complements and people could start saying that you actually listen to them.
BY NOT LISTENING, you are just feeding into the line “BLIZZARD IS SO OUT OF TOUCH” with it’s playes…which really is the truth. There is no down side to this, quit being stuborn and just do it.
When’s their next Q/A? Let’s keep asking Ion.
Changing every week on a schedule that seems completely random in game, that you’d only know about if you read the forums, now that’s much easier than clearly communicated weekly caps and vendors in game.
Because the argument makes no sense. Not even Taliesen could spin Ion’s argument in a positive light that didn’t lampshade how utterly stupid the logic was. And Taliesen has a history of defending the Dev’s decisions or downplaying the negative aspects of them.
The logic behind the decision is built on the Fallacy that RNG increases the amount of time people will play. It doesn’t. If people can get a shot at the best possible rewards by only putting X amount of time, as opposed to the greater Y amount of time, most people will only put in X amount of time. Once again, note that in this instance Y > X.
Hopefully they add one soon…
