It’s been a common debate over the forums, however nothing seems to be done. I for one, wishes that we see those be added back.
I enjoy PvE but not to the point to make my life out of it. This MMO RPG always offered several alternative to have fun.
Warmode was great until players begin to win lottery at Titan Forge in raids and Mythic + and Mythic raid. Most battlegrounds that occurs is always one team being face stomped due to the gear imbalance.
The current system is overall terrible. What we had in Warlords of Draenei, while acclaimed the most worse expansion by most, and even Blizzard recognized it, sweating on stage as they announced Legion. Turned out to at least not kill the PvP scene. Mist of Pandaria had a great system, I do miss it the most.
Legion made things worse, there’s no denying that, by removing the vendors, the need to PvE and put up with dealing with PvE community to do Mythic + has been painful, and is still painful now in BFA, in fact, worse then before.
It would be great that Blizzard acknowledge the issue, PvE is great but PvP is fun. However, the fun sadly died years ago, a monthly brawl or two is not what will bring it back.
Well that is your opinion. I don’t share it personally, especially at the end with 8.3, the ilvl difference was pure madness. But the best out all three, I cannot agree, really can’t agree at all.
That’s hilarious. You’re free to have your opinions but you’re unfortunately in the the wrong when you bring stats of the item level difference in BG. If it was so good, dig me up source that it was, I’m waiting.
Over ilvl 900 it was 1% stat increase per 10 ilvls. Gear wise it was a great expansion. You could ding 110 and join a BG and not be insta gibbed after doing a few WQ for AP to catch your weapon up.
The big issue was Blizzard chose all your stats allocation. A Fire Mage had pathetic crit for example.
“especially at the end with 8.3, the ilvl difference was pure madness.”
“This is why it was bad design. It was just fitting in a pre-determined mold.”
Make up your mind. It was either bad because ilvl difference(which was non-existent due to templates) or it was because of the templates.
You’re disagreement changed forms. Are you disagreeing just because you didn’t like Legion? Or are you disagreeing because the system was in fact bad? Or possibly both? Your supporting argument should reflect your stance.
Overall a template is a bad design. It limits player control too much. The removal of pvp vendors and pvp set bonus + the lack of scaling in world pvp made it bleh.
WoD pvp design was so much better. Gear acquisition via currency and getting what piece(s) you WANTED from a vendor - vs Blizz choosing for you, set bonuses unique to each spec, or pushing for pure BiS stats depending on your playstyle. The barrier for entry was overcome much faster than the current sh*tshow that BFA is.
Not to mention classes themselves being better in WoD. Not being dependent on some “rental” system such as artifacts or azerite powers, but having a full toolkit out the box.
The lack of a vendor also screws over those only interested in transmog. Now that we are in PvP Season 3, tell me how I can get Season 1 set for mog purposes.
They ought to just reinstate a legion-like system but instead of 10 ilevels totaling a 1% increase to all base stats, ~150 haste will total a 1% increase to base haste, etc. So you choose your stats but the gear disparities are still kept nice and tight like they were.
Bring back a welfare vendor with a reasonably paced conquest vendor to progress with afterwards and bam, no more complaints.
I have to speak on legion, At the start it was bad, later on when you could get blue gear and do 10 wqs to catch up your weapon then IMMEDIATELY hop into bgs and be on par with everyone was a thing and was enjoyable. Gear meant nothing in the long run and AP was easy to get. Best pvp for people who play alts imo. Class design as been down the drain since WoD so im figuring that had a huge effect on it though.
Id take MoP classes with legion templates anyday.
Ive played on this toon since vanilla, and legion was the first expac I was actively playing 3 toons, doing the class order halls and getting the class mounts. I didnt feel like I was getting behind in gear because of the templates and made my time in the game a lot more enjoyable because I could easily branch out into other activities without worrying about losing pvp gear progression.
