Imagine thinking this is a fix lol… the loss of player base is gonna be the real hotfix ahaha I don’t even rank and can already see this game dying that much more due to this… good move
Goodjob Blizz(t)ard. Without there being any purpose in pvp’ing now for the majority of players who can’t dedicate 8 hrs+ a day to premade bg’ing, I for 1 will be unsubbing.
Maybe if it was like this from the beginning it might’ve been slightly more acceptable, but to do this now after so many have already ranked using the system as it stands, and to now make it somewhere between exponentially harder and actually impossible for anyone who didn’t yet have the chance or want until now…? well… that is ridiculous.
As a company, you don’t deserve the playerbase that you still have, and you know just how to get rid of them too.
You just don’t know what you talking about. Stop acting like you even pvp.
Imagine being so oblivious to your community that something like this gets approved. This game is old, with that comes the vanilla players being older aswell. People having a family and working full time jobs and after a days work coming home to a game you enjoy and this is what you see. The community is fixing your flawed PvP system, making ranking obtainable to the casual player. Imagine everything we went through from BfA to Shadowlands to improve the quality of life for the casual player and to turn around and take that away from Classic. A “You think you do, but you don’t” expansion that saved your company and community by bringing players back who couldn’t stomach the previous expansions. To hurt those same players by making the game not only harder but less fun. Have your Dev team or whoever approved this, actually grind to R14. The best thing you could do Blizzard is start implementing Polls monthly for thoughts and opinions from the people who love and play this game. You have World Buff dispellers greifing people by ghost camping their targets, You have Bots who Fly around and pick black lotus, you have Bots who could skip straight to mining Crystal that absolutely killed the economy, you have multi-boxers who wait for raids to come out of UBRS and wreck anything that moves, You have the worst Premade system for PvP I have EVER seen, yet you have the audacity to take the one quality of life improvement away from the people who actually play the game in between raid nights. How can you be that out of touch? How can you continuously disgrace and embarrass your own legacy. The only reason you have me personally subbed is because of classic and the last Hail Mary attempt to save retail and you’re blowing it. Please, if you’re going to change anything, change the way you communicate with your players. “You think you do, but you don’t”
450 posts and they don’t even respond to anyone’s concerns about this change then they wonder why we say they don’t interact with the community. They don’t care about what we want, they are just going to spit in our faces and do it anyway.
This says it perfectly. It’s not just the change itself, it’s the ridiculous timing. With a problem like this, you either “fix” it instantly or not at all. You don’t leave it for almost a year while most people benefit from it, then randomly switch it off and make it basically impossible for others to ever compete. All I can say is I’ll be raid logging from now on, so I guess thanks Blizzard for saving a lot of my time.
Refunded Shadowlands and won’t renew my sub. GG Blizz.
My pvp team disbanded. We had people that supposed to get GM but got 99% R13 instead because someone broke the cap. A lot of players just unsubbed cause pvp is just what keep them going. Im on my last week, However this means, I have to merge team, then maintain br2 which going to be high for weeks before it’s my turn to get br1. And it’s not even guaranteed now, because the spot for br1 is like 3 or 4, and some people will just break the bracket. It will cause people their lives by playing 24/7 just to make sure they above everyone else.
Garbage decision by a terrible company. #unsubwow
Arn’t Hotfixes supposed to be used to fix bugs/exploits when they are discovered. Not done several months after many have already taken advantage of it? Blizzards lack of action until now as been an implicit acceptance of this. To turn around with a hotfix that impacts people without warning now is just poor form and a terrible decission that shows blizzard is not engaged with their own game and player base.
Blizzard, is this an out of season April’s fool joke?
You think you do but you don’t. The honor system is already bad, the PVP community has to pad just to make it less “painful”. Your recent “fix” will allienate the PVP community and people will end up unsubscribing to WOW entirely. Yes, there are people who just subsribe to WOW to pvp.
Tell me, how is this exploiting the system, when you have to pvp for months, 8 - 12 hours everyday, just to get rank13/14 (and that is with pads)?
We should be able to vote on these kind of changes.
Its too late, unfair and unjust
It will kill servers
It will lengthen bg queues
So much time wasted
Health issues of players
Longevity of servers and community
Somany other things to address than this
Say it like it is: You want players to pay you for bracket padding instead of eachother. Thats the truth and we all know it.
don’t forget to buy shadowlands
clown company does clown things whats new
Where’s the nerf to the welfare PVE gear lmao?
High Warlord here. I’m going to speculate a bit.
Blizzard has known about pool parties since before they even released the pvp system in Classic. Pool parties were documented in old vanilla, and I imagine there’s no shortage of P.S.'s that had their own pool parties in the years leading up to Classic’s release.
But getting rid of the pool parties early would have left them in a potentially risky position.
A small number of players are going to grind out R14 one way or another, regardless of the time investment required. This could have potentially led to health complications, players ending up in hospitals or playing themselves to death, which would of course lead to no small amount of bad press. Most of us are familiar with the Korean player who died after a 50-hour Starcraft session back in 2005. Bear in mind that Blizzard was also facing heat early in Classic’s release due to Blitzchung controversy – Having two high-profile controversies in a short span of time would be a very bad look for the company.
So to ease the burden and minimize the chances of this occurring, maybe they looked at their options. They could rein in the ranking system – expanding brackets, reducing honor decay, among other potential options. This would naturally upset a number of players, since R14 is supposed to be difficult and pvp is a central draw to the game. But they could do it.
Or alternatively, they could turn a blind eye to pool parties for a few months and allow the players to solve their own problem. Simply ban a few pool party bots to satisfy those who report them and make it look like you’re making a token effort, but take no action on the live players who add hundreds of names to the pool anyway. Players carry on, there’s very little whining from the #nochanges crowd, and the R14s get to feel special about their title.
Now that the ranking system has been out for about a year, Horde honor caps have steadily dropped from 800k to 450k on my realm. I imagine that the cap has similarly dropped across all realms. In addition, all of the super grinders (the ones willing to play fifty hour sessions) have all certainly finished by now. Perhaps Blizzard feels comfortable that applying the fix won’t cause any players be hospitalized. And even if that does happen, it won’t lead to back-to-back controversies now that Blitzchung’s fifteen minutes of fame are over. Perhaps there’s also a specific event that triggered this response now. Has some realm recently added thousands upon thousands of names more than usual?
For those realms that still feel they NEED pool parties, there remains a solution. It sounds like pool party still works as long as the character isn’t deleted. Many cross-realm coalitions exist. You can make ten characters on another realm, ten on yet another realm, and so on, to a maximum of fifty characters per account. Players on those realms can make characters to inflate the pool on your realm.
Being someone on a lower pop server with not many who pvp. It sucks having 1 or 2 slots only on the server naturally. Without boosting we cannot get people through this terrible grind.
This is clearly a money grab at the boosters. So now where you can boost a slot with maybe 10-20 accounts. You will need 34 accounts for 1 slot. What a wonderful idea for them to make more money. That’s literally the only reason they did this…
No more buying accounts, we are stopping so less $ for blizzard. $200 per month to blizzard is gone. Bad financiel decision from blizzard.
Maybe they should add Classic r14 to the store for $200, apparently a lot of people willing to pay for it.
Why do I feel like Blizz is doing this on purpose. Its probably just coincidence that nu-retail is coming out soon. It feels like
" oh you dont like classic changes, ye ? well, we got a new shiny theme park coming soon. Maybe you should play that instead. "
