PVP newcomers

remember to bop physical debuffs only in pvp! Clearing mortal strikes is such a vibe when you time it with a priest heal or follow up with your own holy light. Only freedom when the warrior has a physical debuff otherwise slam cleanse. Repent healer > 31 points into holy suck.

Also respec to ret if you are gonna spam flash of light in pvp. Maybe that works when its a 2v2, but when you have 3 orc wars slamming mortal strikes and the two shaman behind them are casting their big burst, you better not let your premade lead see you casting flashes lol.

That’s not how you spell ele shaman.

Spirit tap isnt great in pvp so your point is moot. No priest who isnt an idiot is gonna take that talent for pvp.

Lowest to highest skill requirement in my humble opinion:

Hunter == Paladin
Enhancement Shaman == Elemental Shaman == Shadow Priest
Warlock
Druid
Mage
Rogue for the skill cap potential / Warrior for the gear and consumes needed

Was this specifically about just PVP? I had assumed this was also respective to leveling on a world PVP server because the server is new and less than 10% of the players are level 60 also the original poster indicated that he’s a new player to classic wow.

Shadow priest is the easiest PVP spec I have ever played by a mile, its incredibly strong especially once you have more than 200 spell damage the spec starts to play very very strongly. I do assume the player will take shadow weaving, black out, improved vamp embrace, and 5/5 darkness, know how to down rank spells accordingly to not go out of mana, and have shadow form as soon as possible. Once you have your shadow tree filled out picking up improved power word shield is incredibly useful when joined with improved inner fire. This works strongly because of how power word shield works in vanilla, if you need explanation on why armor class matters to power word shield please ask.

For the new player, SP is the easiest and strongest class for what most players will do in PVP, I also hope that the OP will also learn to use power word shield and dispel magic and smartly apply DoT’s to players so that he can be a useful asset in world PVP and eventually battlegrounds. Shadow priests who do not offensively and defensively dispel magic may as well just play a warlock and then cry because its a more complex class to get right.

Yes, he stated ā€œfor pvpā€ specifically in the OP.

Also, great advice.

for 1v1 combat?

rogue. easiest class to play
literally just do this and anyone will die

step 1:stealth, cheap shot, hemo, hemo, hemo, hemo, kidney shot, hemo, hemo, hemo, hemo, Cold blood, Evis

Did they die? No? follow to step 2, if Yes. YOU WIN!

step 2:Blind, Stealth, Sap, repeat step 1

Dont listen to anyone else. The other people who posted here are bad at pvp, never hit high ratings in arena, or never got R14 on a popular server.

Just an anecdotal update here. Got jumped by a 45 lock who rode up on me with his VW out. I 43 dwarf priest did not have FW up (hadn’t bothered dropping SF). I did have shadow prot on, because I was fighting the wastewater npcs. First thing he does is fear me. So I eat prob 10s of fear with dots and am pretty low. First thing I do is desperate prayer, fear ward, shield, dispel. While he tries to fear me again, which fails (FW). He drops a dot instantly after fear so that eats his gcd before he realizes I didn’t get feared. Meanwhile I had been moving in on him for my fear. My fear beat the next cast of his fear, so it feared him and his VW. I started mana burning him, and then out of the fear silence. Somewhere in there i got a SWP on him. He shadow warded and sac’d the void and I dispelled both. Now he was mostly oom, 1/2 life (swp and his life tap) and he decided it was time to bail. He coiled. Ran, mounted, right into a rogue that had been watching, I guess. I assume he didn’t fear out of the coil because he wasn’t sure if I had FW up again.

He didn’t release so I waited on him (cast FW). Obviously had a SS. He got bored popped it. Swp, silence, mb dead.

Now was this top play, obviously not, from either of us. But what it illustrates is in real open wpvp. Locks don’t just auto win 1v1. A lot of the time they think they are going to, so they don’t keep fearing. Or lose track of if FW is up or not. Try to lay the dots on. Go OOM, lifetap and don’t realize they are now at 50% or less.

Paladin as a healer is very effective, and you have a pretty good defensive toolkit for when you’re being focused.
