Right off the bat it’s not because of how bursty some specs are. While yes there might be some spots where those specs could be tuned down just a little bit, but it’s not really the problem.
The problem is with just how bad gearing is right now outside of pvp.
It’s forcing hardcore mythic raiders/plus players to pvp because it’s a much better source of gear then raiding and dungeons. Mythic plus caps out at below heroic raid gear at end of dungeons and is only dropping two items if timed. And raiding is dropping such few gear per boss.
So because of that pvp is the option for them. You are always able to work towards something because of the vendor and being able to upgrade that gear with conquest.
That problem is now putting those hardcore players in low level brackets against non mythic players.
With no more scaling those 40k hp players are just dominating sub 30k hp players. It wouldn’t be a problem if the low mmr brackets weren’t flooded with these 40k hp people. But it is.
Now will season 2 fix this because they will outright start in a higher end mmr bracket? I’m not sure.
But blizzard needs to do something with pve gearing. To make it comparable to the gearing upgrade/path of pvp.
So these players aren’t getting gear from PvE, they’re getting gear from PvP. And you’re complaining that these players are so geared from PvP that they’re killing you in PvP?
Then you would have the months of complaining that existed pre-SL that “overgeared PvE’ers are coming into PvP and demolishing us wahhhh”
I was hoping to get him to say it but yes that is the bottom line here. Bad players get beat by better ones and immediately look for any excuse that it isn’t their fault.
Higher rating=higher ilvl gear feels like kids who won the test review game in highschool getting extra credit. They were already going to pass the test with an A as evident of them doing well on the review, why did they get extra credit too? I’m not advocating for pvp gearing to change, because then why would people bother to climb pvp ratings, but it does exacerbate the problem of new people trying to get into pvp.
It did work well in Legion and it made it a lot more fair; you could (almost) start PvPing with a fresh 110 (except for artifact). the problem with Legion was the same thing that is happening now with SL PvE; the PvP was completely unrewarding.
It also has worked in… EVERY SINGLE PVP GAME OUT THERE. Imagine if OW had tiers of guns, and you could only get the best one if you grinded for weeks or months…
Pretty sure every Call of Duty has xp requirements for better guns/attachments/perks. So saying “Every PvP game out there” is very wrong. ESPECIALLY considering EA games and their pay to win models as well.
Your idea still wouldn’t change anything. Even if every person had the same gear, the top mythic raiders would still dominate leaderboards because they’re just simply better players. People are acting like gear is the only reason they can get 2400. Put 220 gear on someone who grey parses and barely clears Normal and they won’t even get above 1800.
So…your problem is that you’d have to run a bunch of dungeons to get your gear so your solution is to just pvp a ton to get gear instead?
You aren’t really changing anything there. The only difference is that in PvP you are guaranteed to eventually get your gear but you’ll have to grind a lot for it. PvE, you may get lucky and get gear first time out or you might have to grind.
This is the same tired excuse that’s been made since the game came out. “The only reason I lost is because of gear.” What’s funny is the top PvP players have always said the gear difference can be made up by skill difference.
