need mythic gear in pvp…so, nothing’s changed.
Yeah the subject line is misleading. PVP is great right now.
PVP actually feels pretty solid right now, all things considered. But yes I don’t like the gear situation in PVE either, if it’s going to be this way at least let me get more than 35 anima at the end of a M+ dungeon.
With the caveat that say if you’re a fresh 60 with some basic blues you’re going to get stomped. Imagine it as if a rogue can stun you can kill you in about two seconds flat.
that’s not an excuse, it’s the reality. The fact that you have to “make up” for the ilvl difference means that gear IS an advantage.
It shouldn’t be that way. And that’s why in PvP tournaments everyone gets the same gear.
I think it should be that way. It’s fun trying out different stat stacking. It’s a RPG with gear.
i think that completely compromises the integrity of PvP; hence, why WoW PvP has always been so bad.
The people who normally like PvP are not the same people who like to grind.
But, it’s ok that some people like the grinding. Variety is the spice of life.
Because this is not a PvP-focused game. It never has been. PvP is a small part of the game. There’s no way Blizzard is going to say “Hey you know all that work you put into your character? Well none of it matters if you want to duel or PvP, everything is normalized. What’s that? You want to try a mastery meme spec for fun? Sorry you can’t, gear is normalized.”
You’re basically asking for it to be turned into a MOBA. If you want that, there are different games for you to play.
Oh, I know, that’s why I don’t play WOW PvP almost ever. As do most people.
It is “a small part of the game” EXACTLY because of the philosophy of rewarding grinding instead of skill. It’d be a lot more popular if they rewarded skill instead.
Do note that many of the super popular games of the decade have been PvP, games with no gear grinds…
Yes, WoW is a popular MMO. But that doesn’t mean it couldn’t be improved by utilizing mechanics that have been demonstrated to work in other games, especially on the PvP side of things.
besides, I’m not talking about dueling…
All this whining and you don’t even PvP?
I would like to, though. I used to PvP a lot in MoP. But then I found better games…
EDIT: besides, my Honor lvl is higher than most of you. So, if I rarely PvP, you probably NEVER do.
Because then there is no feeling of progression in pvp. And who the hell wants to play a game where you don’t feel stronger after getting gear
PvE gearing is straight garbage aside from the covenant gear which can get you fast item level.
There just isn’t any reason to run regular dungeons or heroic dungeons. So you get your full set of covenant gear, fill in pieces with PvP gear and then just try to cap out conquest for 200 gear.
The main problem is the low drop rates in mythic+ and raids, and no PvE vendors
I’m aware of the PvE gearing issues; as are most people playing.
I was pointing out the PvP issues insead because the thread is about “PvP being the worst”
Templates sound horrible.
Templates attract a very niche crowd, Otherwise they completely alienate character progressive systems that are staple to MMO’s for everybody else.
The result is an unrewarding experience.
There’s a reason that only lasted one expansion.
quite the opposite. Gearing mattering for PvP is what attracts a niche crowd.
That doesn’t mean pvP shouldn’t reward gear, though.
Some kind of system where the player would personally allocate points to crit/mastery/vers/haste is the only way I would accept templates again.
My problem with templates was that you can’t play your character how you wanted to play it.
I was an arcane mage. But the template they put on mages made it to where you could get off 3 arcane blasts before going oom, but you had more versatility and could survive longer. Who wants to run around surviving as an oom mage in a BG?
I’d rather blast the heck out of a couple ppl like the glass cannon I am, and then run around and die if need be.
But no, it wasn’t my choice. And that’s a problem.
The template PvP experience basically assures you that each encounter will be the same. If I fight a templated warrior with my templated mage, I’ve learned how to win every time. But against a rogue, I’d lose every time. There’s no changing it up to change strategies.
Yeah the amount of 40k people in low rating is absurd. You can’t afford to make any mistake
what crowd? casuals or hardcores?
they made it a bigger part of the game now if i’m not mistaken. a lot of different quests, the vendors etc.
