(PvP) Kicks are an outdated mechanic

It just doesn’t make sense anymore. Why am I canceling my casts, wasting my time doing nothing, all in the name of trying to get them to use an ability that only has a 10 second cooldown… and if I succeed in my juke, they just stun me, they just blanket me (half the time with the kick that I juked), they just disorient me, they fear me, they… … WHATEVER me. What was the point of all that? During this entire fiasco, they didn’t stop smashing all of their offensive buttons, and their auto-attacks were still rolling out just fine. Why do I have to sit here and do this? All the while ALSO dealing with spell pushback? Brother, if you can’t decide you want to kick something in the 1.5 seconds you have BEFORE spell pushback, maybe you need to go play something else.

This [crap] just seems outdated. Mighta been cool in Vanilla. But right now, in MoP, if I’m playing a BG as a Holy Pally, and I got THREE enemies on me, I just can’t play the game for well over 60 seconds. And it’s not one big 60-second CC. It’s roughly 20x different 3-second CC’s that don’t seem to DR with each other.

This [crap] is old. And I don’t care if “it’s always been this way,” that’s not an argument against my complaint at all.

I know one stupid post on the dead forums won’t make this change, but having to deal with kicks, AND spell pushback, as a caster in this game feels SO incredibly outdated. It just doesn’t make sense anymore, in current day. It probably hasn’t made sense since Wrath.

why play an old game and complain about how it plays?

We have a few different ways to free cast brother, and I could teach you how to never need to “cast” again when healing.

I will not spell it out to prevent low hanging fruit for copy cats, but its not terribly complicated to work out, yet either way we’re virtually immortal VS many opponents at the same time.

This is a git gud situation, healers are supposed to have partners that peel so you don’t have to worry about juking 900 times or wasting all your defensives in the first 3 seconds of a go on you

Well, the replies were expected. But at the end of the day, I’m seeing nobody play Hpal in BG’s, arenas, OR any streams that I’ve watched.

Hpal is a barren wasteland, lol. The numbers talk louder than the posts.

Might not be seeing a lot of variability in healers right now because it’s an rdruid meta. Hpals get stronger later on though

Once upon a time kicks were on the global cooldown.

Once upon a time your normal abilities actually did damage.

This is modern wow. Stop juking, it’s a complete waste of time.

I gave up trying to juke and just full send all the time now. If I get kicked then oh well, guess ill swap to another school of magic.

Do you honestly think you should be able get casts off in a 3v1 scenario? Sounds like you want godmode.

The game isn’t balanced around random BGs, never has been, never will be.

Wow haha, clever reply! You got me good!

─ No, but I want to be able to do SOMETHING. I don’t think I should just be automatically killed in 7 seconds because 3 people are dogpiling on top of me. I want a fighting chance to last a little bit longer through proper usage of my tools.

No, I don’t think I should EVER become a target dummy. Obviously. Every melee can still do things with 3 people on them. But you don’t go around spouting the same sarcastic nonsense to them, now, do you? Hell, a Warrior can just bladestorm, and as long as he can keep his face turned towards the disarms, he might even get away with it (and threaten them!). But - no - go off on the Holy Pally that doesn’t like the fact that 99% of his output is from hard casts, and he only has one school of magic.

Something tells me that you don’t even play Hpal, right? Well - you know - either that, or you’re an anonymous top-rated Hpal that ggez’s every match he’s in…

You should, that’s why you need partners to peel you. 3v1 you should be struggling, and struggling HARD.

99% of hpal output is actually through their cooldowns and revolves around holy shock and wog. I actually got 2.2k in mop in 3s and 2k in 2s as hpal, so I’d say I’m experienced enough to know what it’s like to play before these insane damage reduction numbers. Your kit is equipped to handle melee and fail against casters, however you DO have rebuke to assist with that but you’re bad if you run into the open and into of line of sight to use it.

Playing a healer is difficult, and should feel difficult. Sounds like #1 you are blaming your class for being bad when you don’t know how to properly play it, and #2 your teammates are zugmode and don’t care to play their class properly to support you.

Heckindoggo (if it’s the one I recognize) used to play at high ratings as a warlock. So I’m assuming he knows how paladin works to a modicum of knowledge considering he knows how to counter them.

Hey man, while I understand and sympathize with your frustration, that’s the game.

I wish they’d add the precognition thing they have in retail - successfully faking a kick results in being unkickable for 3ish sec

My only advice is learn to accept this is how the game is played and expect the cc’s and play around them or find something else to play

I’m not the best healer so take this however you want it but you can juke by not juking if that makes sense

Most (bad) players will probably kick if they see a cast bar no matter what, if you’re casting at say 85% hp and they kick you, now they have no kick for when you get down to 40% hp after a few seconds, then you can top yourself, I’ve done this a lot

Now in mop it’s tricky because you’re usually facing a team with at least 2 kicks, in this situation you kinda have to wait for 1 to go on cd, then cast to get the other, and then you’re good

TLDR manipulate enemy kicks to get a window where you can free cast, wont work against good players but probably will at lower ratings

The kicks and interrupts get even crazier in retail, so its hard to say its outdated

now,the no.1 2s in EU sever is holy pala

I’ve been watching the top Twitch streamers for 2 days and haven’t seen a single Hpal. Watching right now, too.

Hpal isn’t meta but that doesn’t mean it isn’t strong, there are hpals in glad range in 2s rn, 2 hpals in r1 range in 3s

Idk what you want us to say, it’s not wotlk you’re not the best healer anymore, no king rules forever
