it was only cosmetics it would not be fun for the people who actually put the work in to be in the group of top end arena players

Have you heard of an exaggeration to make a point? WOTLK numbers dropped significantly since SoD was released. This made the already horrible arena population even smaller. Don’t be an idiot.
