I’m just wondering why 99% of PVP gear I’m getting from arena and random bgs is ilvl 870. I’ve done nearly 100 arena games and countless of random bgs and I think I upgraded one piece of gear in like 2 months.

Now how you think PvPers feel right now just about any pve player can step into pvp and do good and In most cases do better than the pvp'rs.
Indeed, the state of WPVP is and will be deplorable for the next 8 to 10 months. This Xpac was a huge slap in the face to PVPers, thanks to Holinka mostly. I wish that they go back to MOP or WOD gearing system.
When they said Holinka did 15-20 arena a week after he's done his raids I knew then PVP was in for some hard times. It cannot be that hard to find someone that love arenas and BG's to help get pvp back to where it needs to be.
bump?
It's kinda sad, after 3 months, I think everyone has just pretty much given up on this being fixed. Enjoy Legion.02/10/2018 06:23 PMPosted by Megaknucklesbump?
I don't understand why PVE gear is allowed in PVP (excluding world).
Simple fix here, If you queue for PVP you gotta wear PVP gear, if you queue for PVE you gotta wear PVE gear.
Season starts:
1. Everyone talk to an NPC and sign up for that season.
2. Low level PVP gear set is given to your character.
3. You wear that set, and get better replacements as you PVP.
-This resolves the imbalance of pve gear being higher item level than pvp gear.
-This removes complaints that you have to spend your time doing PVE to be able to PVP.
-This removes complaints that you can gear faster doing PVE and then use that gear to PVP rather than feeling like you PVP and get nothing.

That's fine. Atleast we can have conversations on this thread that will keep it bumped
i think pvp gear should only be good in pvp
and pve gear should only be good in pve.
This way its balanced and fair.
there should be pvp only rep gear and pve only rep gear.
Also more pvp quests imo.

I've played this game on and off for 10 years and every time I log into the forums I realize I don't know squat about this game. So goes the life of the solitary quest dude.
So I guess the answer is that they'll hotfix stupid cosmetic crap and pve stuff on a dime but leave arena drops an entire ilevel tier behind puggable pve content for the entire season. We even had a freaking content patch mid season. Cool priorities. Thanks for "listening" to our feedback.
It comes down to this. PvP as a whole, is a forgotten relic of a time long ago. Blizz put the full weight of their fist down (for balance) to fix something that wasn't broken. PvP was fun, challenging and gave a feeling of accomplishment when we reached that rating we never could before.
I do LFR for gear and pug my arena cause I can't find a dedicated partner to do a rating chase. So I sit out in Durotar (like that time long ago) feinding for that feeling of accomplishment I once knew.

02/05/2018 08:07 PMPosted by AorrisThe gearing system for pvp in WoD (excluding Ashran) was by far the best thing for pvp to come from the entire expansion, which they then of course turned around and immediately scrapped in Legion.
rofl Good point. One of the best things out of WoD was pvp gearing... and they blew it up!

LFR argus gives 925 ilvl gear
Winning games at 2k mmr and getting 915 gear
Makes sense. This is the equivalent of gear from skirmishes giving better rewards than Heroic raids
This has the best the best thread to ever come out of this community. Made by someone who streams, is well known, and has an opinion most people value because he plays at a top level. I started my first season back to the game (4year+ break) on my Warrior. I quickly found out my Warrior is not very fun to play when youre stuck playing with people who don't know or forget they can dispel roots, purge BOPs, heal... So after painfully gearing my warrior through PvE because I literally had no choice (random BGs for over a week straight, 100+ games, 2 ilvl900s, rest 875s); I decided that the only way I am going to find partners to play with, who don't PvP casually; is if I play a healer "MUCH higher demand than a Warrior", friend them; and hope they have Alts "which most people who play WoW now-a-days do".
So I pushed my priest from 100 to level 110 in ~2 days. Spent over a week straight doing PvE with BGs in between quests in order to arena (no one wants to play with an ilvl875 healer). I convinced my brother to play WoW again, helped him get to 110 and began helping him get gear. He quickly quit his Warrior after 100s of arena games were played to get him equipment (Felt faster to win/lose a ranked 2s and RNG equipment than roll the dice in a 10min Q for a Battleground you might or might not win for equipment you might or might not get). He then rolled a DK and we began the process again. I have over 600 2s games on my Disc with solely my brother, most of them low level games on the hopes RNG would give him equipment after wins. It got to a point to where we played so many games to get him equips that I told him I couldn't do 2s for awhile, and that he would either need to Quit the game or PvE for equipment because the game refused to RNG him anything. I would dare say he dislikes PvE more than I do, so it was a feat in itself convincing him to grind rep, do quests, unlock zones, and do dalies.
He eventually started doing quests and unlocked PvE stuff and FINALLY started getting equipment that wasn't complete RNG. Do dailies, get seals buy 910. That's WAY better than doing 100BGs and hoping to get an ilvl900s from it.
The weekly cap (915ilvl at lower ratings) would be nice if it wasn't complete RNG on what piece you get from doing it. Did you finish 2s and get the same trinket as last week? Another trinket from 3s? Did you spend half your day trying to get 1500 points from YOLO RBGs because your gears too bad to get into a real group? In the end you get another trinket, or a ring that's not as good as the 20minute LFR you did? Its sad and quite frankly silly that this system is still called a "gearing process".
The real point is, I want to finish leveling my Mage, play Arcane and Enjoy Legion. I just dont want to PvE for equipment. I dont want to do quests because its more efficient than doing Battle Grounds. I dont want to do dailies or tons of 2s Arena Matches to maybe RNG something. I dont want to do long quest chains, grind rep to unlock zones. Why do we get Marks of Honor? Why can I use them to buy something that gives me a bonus roll in Raids?
My Warrior right now is not fun and his play style is nothing like it used to be (Intervene roots/traps, stance dancing, banners). It feels as if I rely very heavily on my partners to help me play the game, and with Mage theres a lot more room for outplay.

Before you flame me, im only a trash tier 2200 player. I am not good at the game, nor do I claim to be good. The man who started this thread is a good player. I just agree with his ideas and want to share my experiences with the gearing system and how crappy it is right now.
tldr; The gearing system is terrible, finding partners is very difficult, and doing raids/dailies/quests/rep grinding should not be better for PvPers than doing Battlegrounds, Arenas. It had always been a system where you spent honor/some currency and went to a PvP Vendor to buy equipment. You spent time PvPn and you were rewarded with whatever you wanted to buy with it. This "Roll the Dice" stuff really isnt fun Blizzard and discourages PvPers who hate raiding/questing from leveling alts to get gear. I wrote a book and i'm sorry.

Idk. I'll come back to arena maybe next season if they fix caster cleave.
Since I pve'd and wasnt really given a choice I should be solid though. 970 no worries and since Im rockn what will be double legendary trinks which rng has been a !@#$% to me about....
I wont have to give a ^-*!.
I'll be lfg for AOTC pvp peeps ftw!

Surely at this point you would think that blizzard would be discussing issues identified in this thread and develop some kind of action plan from it and communicate some ideas but there's nothing. God is it really asking to much of Blizzard to make an official response so players know what Blizzard would like to do or when it might happen. The constant silence is just killing everyone's enthusiasm to believe that Blizzard will actually do something as they continue to completely ignore the PvP community.
Why can't blizz just hotfix this, it's so easy
This seems to be my obsession to get it into wow, but literally I think 1v1 arenas would be one of the best options for Blizzard to consider for the pvp gearing. Since many of us understand it clearly isnt worth it for the pvp gear at high end compared with what you can get from easily doing antorus.
Clearly scrapping PvE gear isn't a good option.
What should they do? Make it easier to get high rated gear in pvp? Than it will be just like how it was where people non-stop used pvp gear in pve. Maybe, pvp gear can have very high ilvl, but weird stats, like an excessive amount of stamina and just the primary stat, or maybe bring back resilience.
The problem is with HOW people obtain the gear, not necessarily the gear itself from what I can tell.
Just saying, I really think truly tackling the whole idea of 1v1 arenas and seriously considering ways to make them work would be the exact solution to so many of our qualms.
Anyway... I won't give up on that quest.
Maybe one day, these dreams shall come true.
