PvP gearing is bad and not fun (HELP)

01/09/2018 02:15 PMPosted by Omegal
Of course, when they fix it so PVP gear is competitive again, there will be a 21 page thread from pvers who feel forced to pvp for gear.

This has been a no win situation for years, and it has literally gone back and forth for years. Either pvp gear is good and pvers are unhappy, or pvp gear is bad and pvpers are unhappy.

They'll probably do something like make gear irrelevant in world pvp with scaling to try and bandaid it

Why am I not surprised the first green post we get here is one of upmost ignorance.

Christ.

If you take a look at his achievement page, it's pretty funny. He has some areas 100% completed. Arena / Rbgs, 100% empty, not even step into the arena.

Not shocked. Probably followed the blue tracker off mmochampion and decided to stick his clueless opinion where it doesn't belong.

No knowledge that PVP gear was competitive in WoD and was fine (no resilience worked out tbh).

No knowledge that PVP gear, at least the ones earned in arena/RBG, were also competitive up until recently.

I hate green posters with a passion, jfc.

most players that have this mindset have never done pvp, so they honestly shouldnt comment on something they know nothing about, like me and pve, i dont have a clue about pve, so i keep my 2 cents to myself
He def overstepped his positioning lol. If he were a MW in arena, his @ss currently would be stunned and hard swapped to, and his body would be dead on the arena floor.

haha it would be one of the hardest flops in arena history, definitely a clip worthy flop lol

Thanks guys for all the feedback here as I've been tracking this thread for quite a while. With Battle for Azeroth we aren't ready to share information on what changes may be coming past what has been shared at BlizzCon.

PVP is something that has been actively discussed going forward into the new expansion, no idea on if any changes are going to be made but keep in mind we still have a whole Alpha and Beta cycle to go through so please keep the discussion up.

First of all thank you for acknowledging us and posting here. We appreciate it and hope to continue a dialogue with you. While I think we all are happy that you guys have PvP in the crosshairs for changes in BfA - the topic of this thread is largely about this current pvp season. The item level scaling of PvP gear relative to what's available in PvE has not been a problem throughout Legion. It is just this season where the iLevel disparity just seems off. Are we to take this response as news that you guys will not consider tuning this season's drops?

Again, rival and duelist brackets are rewarding LFR quality gear. That doesn't feel appropriate. Last season and seasons before that, this wasn't necessarily an issue as the ilevel rewards per bracket were more in line with what you would be getting at similar "difficulty" levels in PvE. I think we all assume that the entire gearing system is going to change in BfA and that's cool - just not really what we are talking about here in this thread.
Well, don't we all look like !@#$%^-s now for saying a blue wouldn't respond to this thread.
Beautiful post.

This HAS to get these devs thinking again. Or maybe not.

Until then, 95% of us will continue enjoying Mongolia.

I mean, to be fair to us, he didn't actually respond with anything referencing the thread itself...
My vote is against the template system here is why:

1. No transparency
2. Changes are too slow
3. Forces talent choices
4. Huge barrier for new players having to relearn specs/classes
5. Still an unbalanced mess
6. Blizz has shown they can balance classes and specs in PVE via auras without forcing template system in PVE.
7. Templates prune player ability to adapt to class changes
8. Lack of feedback/testing on template changes

1. No transparency
There's an addon you can get to see the stat templates.

2. Changes are too slow
Not really? They're pretty consistent about changing agil / stam templates by 5% every so often.

3. Forces talent choices
uhhh wut? That makes no sense.
01/09/2018 04:12 PMPosted by Mafic
4. Huge barrier for new players having to relearn specs/classes
uhhhh wuuuut? Makes it easier for new players if anything, as they don't have to deal with looking at what off stat is best.

5. Still an unbalanced mess
I mean, it hasn't be super bad. Dps is too easy to do for sure, but the balance doesn't feel over the top bad.

6. Blizz has shown they can balance classes and specs in PVE via auras without forcing template system in PVE.
So because they can do it for PvE means they can do it for PvP and PvE at the same time?

7. Templates prune player ability to adapt to class changes
Not really sure how you could adapt to class changes before via gear, unless you're referencing changing up haste for mastery or something along those lines.

8. Lack of feedback/testing on template changes
That's why they tend to keep the changes on smaller increments most of the time.
this is what happens when the boss of blizzard (Ion) is a guy who has barely touched pvp in his life

he leans towards pve, questing, and raiding in every single decision he makes

and he loves the diablofication of WoW

I'm only upvoting because from one man with great hair to another, Venruki has impressive genes.

I'm afraid this post is from last month. Please be mindful of necroing posts in the future. I'm going to have to lock this thread now.

This made me chuckle not gonna lie. The blue also only posted here after I linked him it in a thread on GD titled "Why" with the words "Discuss" as the post, which he had replied to with "Blue".

I'll still take it though, better than nothing. =P

Your post doesn't tell me anything at all. It's value to me is virtually nonexistent.

and your post tells me you don't understand how to interpret statements very well.

for the rest of us it says:

"hey forum dudes, some of us blizzard employees actually read the arena forums and we are talking about the fact that you aren't happy and maybe we can change things moving forward into BfA"
love how a blue post finally appears in the pvp forums and all the pve people come in here losing their damn minds about virtual gear in a virtual game that is all pixels
