I think you’re missing what’s being put out.
You’re the one pretending that this is the argument being made for simpler gearing paths. Gearing should be non-confusing even if you’re not trying to climb. What’s asinine and lazy is you seeming to think that the only/major reason people feel like they can’t climb right now is because of gear. It’s a strawman argument, and one that (again, unless I missed it) only you are making in this thread. Most of us just want less confusing gearing paths because it’s better & easier for the casual player, not because we feel it’s specifically holding us back from some coveted rating threshold. Again, the idea of having PVP on as much an even playing field as possible.

Which currently already exists because everyone has exactly the same access to the exact same resources by doing the exact same content overall. So it’s not an issue.
It isn’t, though. Get conquest, use conquest. If you wanna be fancy and craft to min/max, then go for it and do some reading! You have the opportunity to try and figure it out yourself, or just wait for someone to do it for you.
Well you have 20 IQ there isn’t a system easy enough for you to not get confused.
Hey hopefully you’ve saved up enough so Avizura can help finish the carry!
Gearing up forces you to learn your class, and more importantly other classes.

I just look up Dyllbar every so often to see what he’s doing (since he’s the only person who seems to main Rsham no matter what), and the post Remi made the other day completely outlines everything for people.
The above is super simple, anyone can Google this sort of thing, or spend 1 minute of their time asking here–and the most important thing is if you’re casual, just testing the waters with PVP, making gearing mistakes aren’t going to be that impacting because you’re going to be limited anyway. Presently the most damning thing to newcomers would be capping conquest because BGB gives dog conquest, but I believe RSS gives good conquest(?) so there’s queuable options without needing btags that make it possible for everyone.
I’m usually on the side of ‘let’s get more people into PVP,’ but if people can’t spend 10 minutes looking up stuff they need to do to PVP, then they weren’t going to stick around long anyway.

I dont agree. My character is decked out and Im having a lot of fun playing and optimising my character. The only research ive done was stealing some specs off rank 1 players.
Ive stumbled through the crafting system with no research and bloody coins/conquest are pretty self explanatory. Maybe its my casual schedule makes me appreciate it more now when I log on to manage my one toon.

Just go to murkio and look at all that available data.
In a perfect world, on a fresh 80 you’d walk up to a vendor that would have every piece of gear with all combinations of stats and pick/choose what gear you wanted (all conquest) and just play some rated pvp.

Research is a stretch. I open the item sets, glance and go “ew not that one”.
This has never been different. You have always had to know the materials for your craft. You can literally track them.
Dog what?
Yeah you’re just crying to cry LMAO.

I think a lot of people FEEL that way, but research and practice tells us otherwise. Personally I think that I would like that in theory, because I find pvp rewarding enough to enjoy for the game. However, the VAST MAJORITY of wow players that pvp have the sole goal of grinding the conquest set. Not even the elite set, just the conquest set, and a lot of them don’t even set foot in rated content.
Further, looking at other games that HAVE done that like gw2 (which I love and think is great) initially attracted a lot of players who THOUGHT just like you do; that they don’t want to have to think about or focus on gear, they just want to play… and those same players quit a couple weeks later because they don’t feel that there’s anything to do, there’s no sense of progression, and they don’t feel like there’s prestige.
Also, I know from personal experience that I really like getting a new piece of gear and that it feels really good when I do get one, so I’m not sure I’d enjoy it as much in practice as I do in my head. I think im another, "I think I do, but I don’t ".
What he said isn’t and what you said is, though.
This current gearing system is the best it has ever been, period.
The only way it gets “better” according to some is by just making all gear with all stats that cost nothing day 1.
I know some of you hate this but WoW is still an RPG. If you want log in, queue up, log out, go play a game that is made to do just that. I honestly don’t think WoW PvP gearing could get any better.

Maybe slow down and try to understand a new system before throwing tokens and conq at a vendor as soon as you get it.

That’s exactly what I’m saying. Yes, people have made mistakes because they didn’t read the dozen in-game npcs, quests, and tutorials and tried to wing it or didn’t pay attention.
I also know people who are new to wow and have never even seen a crafting interface lile that before and found the in-game information to be extremely helpful.
Just because something is new and slightly different doesn’t mean it’s a problem or needs to be “fixed”.
That all being said, the weapons quest IS a big mess-up and should be changed. Not sure why all casters are given a crit mh+oh/shield instead of a choice of staves.

My destro lock gets a haste vers staff from quest when I complete. Maybe try swapping spec to see if it’s stat you like but that is very dumb if it gives you bad stats. Haven’t looked yet.

All my gear scaled up to ilvl 600 that’s pretty good imo.
This might be a cooked take but i’d rather there be some barrier to entry than nothing at all.
It’s not really fun when everyone has every class maxed and ready to hop onto the fotm train everytime the wind blows a different direction.

Those days are gone it is happening already. The barrier just screws you over in the first couple of weeks. Look at all the mages and lack of DH in pvp. People really do go for FOTM specs. Dragonflight had literal millions of DHs cus they were broken.
I’m not saying u shouldn’t have alts , but completely removing the barrier will make things a lot worse.
Imo the main issue is the devs don’t know (or dont want?) how to balance the game ( in any environment).
