Current PvP gearing rewards those that carefully plot out their crafting/ selection of gear which may be good for those that like the strategy/research to get a competitve edge. However it is very bad for the casual trying to get into PVP or even players that want to utilize blizzards new pvp quest reward for a free weapon.
Currently at the start of the expac you must
- get all honor gear
- make sure you get all pvp related quests BEFORE starting your conquest grind
-do sparks of life quest and farm bloody tokens
-figure out the crafting system and craft specific gear using embellishments for your spec (currently hard to find info on what’s best)
-get to 1600 to get free tier piece which is also shared with PVE gear vendor. If you happen to buy the PVE tier piece and equip it you cannot get your pvp gear any more. (Rip this happened to me)
How is this supposed to get people into PVP?
Depending on what you craft the first week you can have a massive competetive edge over others. I just played a match with a rogue that had double crafted daggers. He absolutely rolled over everyone which is a terrible feeling to have in a game the first week when you yourself are capped on conquest waiting to use the quest given out by blizzard for a free weapon in an economical way.
Why is this so overly complicated? In games and on forums people are confused at how to approach gearing in PVP this season.
A repeat of this PVP season should not happen again.
Stop giving out free gear via quests. Let it be about PVP and make sure people are on equal footing.
My recommendations are as follows;
-Conquest only- no free loot from quests
-Increase secondary week conquest gains and third week to make up for the fact we arent getting free pvp loot.
-scrap embellishments in what we know of them. Make a pvp item you can buy with honor that functions as an enchant basically to gear to fufill embelishment effect role. This effect only activates in PVP combat.
-for the love of god make PVP 1600 tokens PVP specific and PVE specific tokens PVE specific. Just add an option to spend your PVP token on a PVE one. You have frustrated so many people needlessly allowing a singular token to be used for both PVE and PVP. Sure it may be our fault for not reading the fine print but jeesh. You can do better.
I am not too happy with how the season 1 TWW is shaping up so far. I can’t wait to be crucified for my opinions.

Whilst I think it’s easy enough to gear up, as someone who barely touched dragonflight the current gearing system can be extremely confusing, especially compared to past iterations.

All of this information is easily laid out for you in multiple YouTube videos that are roughly 10 minutes long. It’s not super complicated. You could also just look at the top couple people that are the highest rated and emulate the gear they are wearing.

Kind of agree. Don’t know how to fix it.
I dont like that if you’re wrong you cant undo what you did and fix it.
They should have removed crafting from wow after warlords of draenor…
Crafting price are insane now… Are they really worth it…
I feel like people forget that they’re playing an MMO and gearing is part of the process.

Yeah, but its crazy how important crafting is to pvp currently. More so than DF imo. Not only is it a little convoluted, but it’s now a big gold sink to gear correctly as well.

It is a bit of a gold sink. That has more to do with early xpac economies. That balances out eventually.
It’s also not that complicated. At first it is, but if you ask people to help, or watch videos it’s easy to figure out.
Do you hear yourself? You shouldn’t have to go to a third party to find this info out.

Imo the more ideal version of gearing, if we still want gear progression, is to permanently unlock all PVP items for a given class for a given slot, in a scheduled manner, once certain conquest levels are hit by a player. So hit 500 conquest? You get the chest and can buy all stat-versions of the chest unlimited times (obviously can’t sell for gold). Hit 1000? You get legs too, etc.
And get rid of all these choices that you make and must not get wrong, including the anticipation of nerfs of different embellishments/enchants (such as is expected by some for the weapon embellishment) as you progress, lest you be left behind early-to-mid season (or perhaps for much longer). Allow something like the recrafting of even conquest-received PVP gear to have embellishments added.

The good news it’s the beginning of the season and honor gear is still competitive.
Having to craft PvP gear is completely bogus I agree

I actually like the current system. It ties in player economy with the pvp aspect of the game as well as creates the ability for you to pick your stats

I also don’t like how it’s impossible to multi spec effectively due to stats and embellishments and weapons

You could read the quest that the game gives you.
You just want to turn this into call of duty. Log in, queue up, get some kills and call it a day. The expansion was announced months ago. Every streamer on earth has covered what to do, how to do it and where to do it. Don’t have a strategy for gearing? Please for the love of god. Play something else. We don’t want you here.

Oh yes. the tears of a thousand salty beavers. I was waiting for you.
That sounds amazing??? Why don’t all PvP’rs want this?

I understand that there’s a bit of a learning curve, but it’s also GOING to be figured out in like 1 or 2 weeks and no one will ever have any questions again. I think that’s part of the appeal for a LOT of people; figuring things out.
