PvP gear vs pve

Is there a reaso pvp’rs get trolled by their gear especially vs pve? That “item level boost “ does nothing for giving advantage in PvP. Especially when you meet someone similar in pve. They have the same health as you still, just as much or better stats. Plus numerous gear slots that can give crazy at times damage bonuses or burst. Seems like the only reason PvP gear bonuses exist is to troll/one shot in bgs when you’re full conquest geared vs honor gear. Otherwise conquest gear is a complete joke in the open world. What gives :man_shrugging::man_shrugging:

You’re literally boosted to ilvl 639 which is equivalent to the highest PvE ilvl (mythic raid). Thats the advantage you get, and very rarely are you going to meet someone in PvE who has full ilvl 639. If I had to guess, it’s probably less than 1-2% of the player base. They’d still get rolled though because they likely have no Versatility.

It’s to give PvP players access to high ilvl gear without forcing us to do content like mythic raiding, and because said gear only activates in PvP combat, it’s doesn’t make PvE players feel required to get it since it won’t do anything for them in PvE.

Are you talking about the automatic gear upgrade in PvP content, the manual upgrades you do at the vendor or the tier bonuses?

You seem to mix terms in a confused way.

Gotta read the fine print, the I level jump only happens in BGs & Arenas. In world pvp content there is no advantage, other than the stat priority change. You will still dominate most pve geared players but it depends on your skill, can’t use the pve attack rotations on a human opponent your not fighting an AI

Incorrect, it also activates in wpvp when combat is engaged.

:man_shrugging:t5: well sue me for reading the item description lol, nice to know but the OP actually does have a point then because even at my current I level of PVE gear I can do World PvP and hold my own in PVE gear. I was only switching into my PvP gear to enter BGs as there is a noticable difference wearing PVE gear. But thanks for the heads up, I’ll switch to my PvP gear for world pvp then lol

My point is damage bonuses given from pve gear that pvp gear doesn’t get. Pve have always gotten trinkets etc that’s broken in both pve or pvp. I inspect lots of players I face in world pvp after facing them and there are numerous pve gear bonuses that is op

Ya it’s pretty lame how PvP gear is just basic stats right now. Sure embellishments exist, and they seemed pretty cool in DF, but it seems like they wanted to pump the brakes on them in TWW. You can’t even put a PvP ilvl on the actually interesting crafted embellishment gear.
Would be cool if they gave PvP players more options.

Damage bonuses from things like trinkets are often modified by a PvP multiplier and are nerfed in PvP combat. They don’t just go unchecked. A few times an expansion you’ll get a trinket that slips through the cracks, but it’s usually fixed within a week or two when the next arena streamer show cases it in a video.

We used to get cool trinkets in PvP, most notably I can remember BfA and SL, but people complained about them alot and therefore Blizzard stopped doing them. If you recall, we had PvP corruption trinkets in BfA and the shackle / Zereth Mortis trinkets in SL.

I do recall and those were FUN! But now pve players only get the fun in pve or vs vs pvp’rs

there is no current pve gear that gives an advantage in pvp that i know of… i’m interested in what gear specifically you think does

Yep, I had a problem with this day 1, I ran 600k absorb neck in season 4 which was a 50% absorb off global for 10 seconds. It allowed me to yolo block at 2250MMR and 1 shot glad players with a few frostbolts at 50% dampening.

https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2214443635 like here - yolo block - felt safe because it would be up in 1 min and I had invis, etc. The extra defensive was invaluable. Especially when frostbolt scaled 12:1 intellect:damage in 11.0 now its like 6:1 - give or take as spellslinger? At least when I calculated in beta.

and here:
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2223638554 - able to hold my block like a god, because I used my neck early game for their first round of burst…

I was very upset they did not let us craft the old gear and then shortly after found out the new gear was not even an option unless I did extreme amounts of PvE…

Also, I play dampen builds, so like FF was a no go, until they made ice lance stop spreading living bomb, so … what having cancel excess frost/fire and ff empowerment are my only options and I am out of binds for that lol.

I’ve not paid to pve since, maybe the bonuses are good, idk, typically they have been underpowered in the past, aside from wrath and a few other expansion. Since wod, there have been very few pieces to use, aside from the occasional late expansion patch that makes them viable.

Plus because of stat scaling, the pvp leveling experience was very unenjoyable, I had a rogue that had no experience take me out, simply because he was 3-4lvls lower, I redid 2x binds for my orb and blizzard, and my engineer helm/bracers did not work - which were stacked versatility with sockets…I picked up mining/herbing to level with…

Sometimes these players wait sometimes until you got low in pve, then go for the attack lol. Probably fully decked in high pve ilvl, not saying this is what happened, but I know leveling speed is a problem for people leveling in pvp gear.

I was sitting around 20% verse at level 73 and they were, probably the normal 40% or what ever you had at level 70% in full pvp gear at the end of the exanpsion. They thought they were cool and good at the game lol. Like, I could have maybe won, if I did not rebind my orb/blizzard, even with the versatility difference lol. Iirc, I had like 55% verse at the end of the DF with my engineer bracers/helm/sockets/chants. But still, for 3 levels in difference, losing that amount of damage reduction(15%) and damage(30%) from scaling alone is insane.

You would think we would get stronger as we level, not weaker lol… I saw level 70s stream sniping level 75s on big streamers too, using this stat scaling difference in the TWW. How did this slip past beta is what I want to know? Lmao. Seems like it happens every gosh dang expansion lol.

Actually you are incorrect, doing world pvp/or going into PvP mode your item level does not change, it only changes and BGs and arenas as stated in the armor piece description. Tested it out today when other faction attacked in city today. Put the armor on outside a bg in world pvp mode and screenshot your stats, then screenshot your stats in a bg, huge difference but again it only takes place in a bg or arena, outside of that your versatility is ALOT higher but your still very much at the item level stated outside a bg or arena :v:t5:

I assure you I am not.

Simply flipping on warmode isn’t enough. You actually have to engage, and the second you do, you will see the difference.

Snowcrest is correct here.

If you click the ability attached to the trinket, you’ll see the trinket has a 0.4 PvP multiplier. This means it’s damage is nerfed by roughly 60% in PvP combat.

So, I’ll ask heare because I think it’s related:

I do have full conquest (639) set and I’m always with WM on… However when I put my PVE set, I still see “PVP ivl 637”, despite none of those being PVP gear.

Is that this auto-scaling? If so, it means that the set isn’t completely worthless if I engage in pvp combat? I mean, obviously fully aware that I don’t have a lot ov vers or the pvp trinket on, which can be an disadvantage.
