PvP gear in 9.2

Get rid of the blasted ranks on PvP armor, give us 2 sets. idc how long it takes to gear a full conquest set, just give us 2 sets with no gearing ranks. make the PvP conquest scale higher then mythic raid gear and the honor to heroic/normal raid level in PvP. I do not want to play 9.2 with the gear ranks, I am sick of it and I think a lot of players agree.

MMORPG. Character progression matters. Check out Streetfighter.

Agreed. Give me 2 sets to progress then.

Why don’t you just get the gear and upgrade it? We do have two sets to “progress” right now btw, honor and conquest.

Because 1. going through 7 levels of honor ranks suck when its on all of my characters, then having to gain rated rank to level another 9 ranks is even more of a problem. The power difference between base Conquest and fully powered rank 9 is a little too much. You get Thanos snapped if you have honor gear even at rank 7. vs any one with a full base conquest set. Making the effort to even gear up one character let alone 5 for me, a nightmare in Randoms. I just would rather there be less time to gear up all of my toons and more time playing the game. less time in the phase of getting cratered, more time having a blast playing my characters.

I agree and disagree with this because on one hand I know how awful it is to gear but on the other once I’m fully geared i stop playing that toon lmao. So rating gives me a reason to keep going

I get it, but I think this hurts altoholics more than anyone else.

You did some RBGs, do you not enjoy them? The 9.1.5 gearing model is way better than the start of SL PvP gearing. If you start gearing in 9.2 you will be more than geared enough to enjoy the rest of the expansion. You don’t even lose rating until like 1400 anyways, which you can do in RBGs.

Personally, I don’t like the idea of having nothing to work towards gearing wise after a few weeks.

As far as you first sentence about “all of your alts”, I really don’t care in the slightest. Nothing malicious towards you, but I REALLY can’t stand the FotM mentality in this game and the overwhelming number of Warrior/Hunter/DH players that have popped up when they are/were strong.

I wish alts were infinitely harder to maintain and people were more forced into picking a class. I know I am a minority on this topic.

I think a lot of people do this as well. They just want to gear up characters to never play them. That’s fine, that is their choice but I don’t want my experience ruined so someone can not play 12 classes but gear them all.

A lot of people’s alts are only of the same class though

This is true, but what do you think is more common? FotM rerolling or someone having 6 monks?

Look at how many MM Hunters are in bgs right now.

I respect your opinion though I disagree a little. I used to play on a single character a long time ago, but found the games state changed so much that having more then one option of play was nice and refreshing. I tried to to do RBGs for just getting a base conquest gear before they buffed conquest. Though I did enjoy them, I remain resolute in playing as a lone wolf. But I suppose that makes me foolish by nature to hope for a fun solo exepriance in a mmo.

Most groups I see are YOLO variants. No voice required, the only difference between random bgs and yolos are that you get a team that is ostensibly trying to win and has a pulse.

You can do pretty good just doing no voice yolos for gear. Don’t count it out just yet.

The game is geared towards playing alts on one hand but punishes you because you have alts.

So the person stating that he only plays one character is smart overall, but that is not what Blizzard promote or they would not have paid boost to 50 etc, character transfers, awards across all toons. Extra character slots, 50 characters per account across all servers.

So they are punishing players at the high end.

Well that realy says it all. That’s why gearing shouldn’t cater to your specific taste, thanks for playing!

I REALLY can’t stand the FotM mentality in this game and the overwhelming number of Warrior/Hunter/DH players that have popped up when they are/were strong.

Also this is happening in the system we have right now. Why? Because the gearing and other systems are so punishing that people will only play what they know is easy/strong. When there’s a massive grind locked behind rating, less people are going to try off-meta picks, knowing it’s going to be harder to get half-decent gear and have any fun.

Whoever stated this. Do you think WOW is the only game that FOTM happens? No. It happens in all games. It’s natural for the majority of gamers to want to be the most powerful class. Especially in battlegrounds/arena etc.

MMO developers also nerf classes into the ground and people have to reroll after spending months building a character, that is really demoralizing and time consuming. It’s ok to say you want to be different, but try getting into raids, mythic, rated Bgs, arena on a weak class 9/10 not going to happen.

There is a difference between progression and forcing people to do 100k honor grind worth of honor every season on each character to upgrade gear.

Wow pvp has never been this grindy with the exception of vanillia. Expect people to be angry at all of the chores required to do arena/pvp

The alt-unfriendly gearing systems would not be so bad if their balance teams weren’t so bad in recent years. The amount of time the average person has to put into their character to progress through the rating system is high, and that can all be invalidated with some heavy-handed or delayed balance fixes. Certain classes are allowed to go unchecked for long periods of time leaving you with the unfun decision of risking the reroll to be more viable or having it all wiped out if/when they decide to do anything.

The game as a whole is failing because of all the tedious Pay to Win model systems. I’m not directly saying WoW has become Pay to Win completely, but it’s following the same model of introducing tedious, repetitive, low-quality content that is designed to slowly increase character progression to keep people on a hamster wheel. The progression isn’t fun or exciting in any meaningful way. You spend 100 hours grinding a system to give you the ability to grind it next time in 95 hours. And they’re doing this all while still requiring a subscription fee.

There’s a reason why MMROPG style progression doesn’t translate well to PvP. If you look at the most successful PvP games, they’re based on accessibility and competition. I’ve yet to find anyone who actively defends these systems outside of trolls and people with inferiority complexes who do nothing but punch down.

I’m in a minority on my point of view that alts should be hard to play. Start with Dr. Seuss and work your way up to.

Thanks for trying to play!

This is too steep. Not disagreeing at all.
