Back in the day before separation myself and others use to argue for a system that would look at the hidden MMR that players had, and group players with higher ratings with other higher ratings players, and group lower rated players with other lower rated players. I would be in favor of a system like this since it accomplishes the main goal of not separating the playerbase, and for the most part keeps lower rated players away from higher rated players.
One drawback that I could see is that, like premades, you might find situations where the higher (or lower) rated players cannot find other similar rated players within a set amount of time, and for the sake of keeping things moving, group them with players higher (or lower) than them.
He earns your respect because he’s saying what you want to hear. It’s not really honest though, because ofc running a 5 man in lower levels you’ll see a slaughter every match. If he wanted to be honest about twinks, he’d start a toon that’s not twinked out and do some Bgs that way and see if his experience is the same. I bet he’d find some pretty fun games.
No, because he’s honest and well-spoken and intelligent, unlike most of the frequenters who always seem like they’re mad, not to mention express absolute rage when you even hint at any idea that makes it so they cannot access levelers. Not once did the OP tell someone to “git gud” or use any other fad/troll statements. Not once did he say "you guys are the same person because you disagree with me ( btw). People like him can give others confidence in that community. From a neutral and unbias perspective, the frequenters here give their community a very bad name. He restores that faith.
Anyone running 5 mans at lower level will absolutely slaughter the other team. And it will seem like it’s that way for everyone every BG. It’s not the case though. More than not, matches have been pretty competitive. A twink player won’t know that though.
Lmao a lot of people on the internet are that way. I can empathize.
I used to “debate” people on Reddit all the time, and that website is chock full of people like him. Its not worth even a second of your time.
You could ask him what one peice of evidence would convince him otherwise, provide it, and they’ll worm their way around anything to be as stubborn as possible.
There’s already talk of quest addons for Classic. Not to mention the information is out there and has been for years now. People will have Classic loaded, and WoWhead or whatever on their phones to find locations.
The people who want Classic to be just like their initial experience with Vanilla are going to be sorely disappointed.
Yeah, the whole conversation here is a ridiculous merry-go-round because of people like this on both sides who won’t acknowledge that the truth’s somewhere in the middle.
Yea, the xp for losses are still quite a bit. Obviously not so true for ctf maps if you don’t cap any flags, but any base map you get okay experience for bases you hold.
That sucks. It had a certain appeal to it. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. It’s like the NES Classic (classic being that keyword) but was additions that don’t make it quite feel like we wanted (purists, at least).
I personally feel like there has been a large attitude shift in the game overall that is causing these issues.
I’m not sure how the forums looked back in the day, but when I had twinks on my team, I was very excited to see it! These monsters would come in and pave our way to victory and encourage me to inspect them and try for their gear myself prior to moving on to the next bracket. Enemy twinks were huge targets that people coordinated and attacked (typically unsuccessfully) . Either way it was an interesting aspect to battlegrounds.
Nowadays, people just seem to want the experience and get pissed if someone who devoted themselves to a game all about getting the best gear possible and did exactly that. Perhaps its a situation similar to games like Overwatch, where MMR is everything, and people get incredibly upset about losses because they feel that their MMR is their skill level.
Regardless, since nobody seems to want to compromise, or shift their views in any way, its going to be up to Blizzard to determine who is in the right, and what type of players they care about more.
It’s quite telling that they were going to separate xp off in the higher bracket, then quickly changed their mind. They easily could separate, but it’s clear they don’t want to and would rather work on balance changes more.
I can only speak for myself here, but just winning or losing isn’t the crux of the issue. I play BGs while leveling for fun and as a break to the same questing I’ve done for years now. The few games I’ve had while leveling that were actually close games were incredibly fun, win or loss.
I just don’t like winning or losing being tied entirely to a coin flip of who has more twinks. Streamrolls aren’t fun for me no matter which side of it I’m on.
Funnily enough I was the same in Overwatch, and it’s the reason I don’t play it much anymore. Very rarely felt like there were even games.
That unfortunately, is WoW PVP since the dawn of time. Templates somewhat fixed it, but they required so much attention (which they werent given) to be a workable solution and they once more neutered RPG aspects of the game, turning it into something it shouldn’t be.
But its the same situation at 120, or any max level battleground ever. Gear wins. That is WoW PVP. You can obviously work around it, but this is a character builder game.
