Arenas and pvp are a GREAT way to keep people active during slower times. Please buff honor per bg so we can stop the raid logging and bring back some community health. A lot of my friends I used to pvp with quit because of the honor grind and will “come back when it’s fixed.” This is the same story over and over that’s affecting the health of the pvp community. “Arena is fun, but there’s no way I’m doing that grind on my alt.” I primarily pvp, so I sucked it up and did the grind, but it was an awful experience to gear that way. I simply do not have time to gear my alt, and I’m sure almost every pvp’er feels the same.
I honestly think you could double or triple honor and it would feel a lot closer to pve gearing time. (heroics, raids, etc.) Every which way you calculate honor per hour, it sucks, especially if you have bad rng with losses (not me though I pew pew carry). Grinding heroic badges for gear, some of which is BiS, takes less time than level 70 blue pvp gear. (Not considering everything else you get from grinding heroics). PVP gear isn’t as strong as pve gear. There’s no setback to affecting pve, just a worse alternative as pvp gear should be.
TLDR; If you fix the honor grind, the community will be healthier and keep people more involved instead of just raid logging or quitting.

They told us about a month ago that they would lower the costs of the honor/arena gear before the end of the season. Since then they have said nothing.

There really is no reason for them not to just change it now the playerbase has literally been telling them they were killing pvp participation since the initial nerf in pre patch

well said. it pains me that it is apparently necessary to point out the currency connected to an activity should be reasonable but here we are. Every change they have made to pvp has been designed to kill interest though, so this may be an uphill climb on slippery slope.

Just frustrated. Pvp community is very light especially at the top end because the barrier to entry is too high to convince someone to spend 100+ hours farming your starter set

Couldn’t agree more. The amount of honor gained per bg is laughably low. I work from home, self employed can game 10+ hours a day, I love to pvp and usually solo que spam bg’s 4-10 hours a day 3-5 days a week. I came into TBC honor capped, spent it all on pvp gear, and now I’m still only at 56k honor. Now imagine how anyone with a life or normal job is feeling about trying to gear up for pvp, hint they aren’t going to bother, or will wait for p2.

And yet people had full S1 gear the first week.

Those people farmed 75k honor when the honor gains were decent.

This is a good idea in general, but I feel like this will only benefit Horde pugs who seem to be generally winning at a much higher clip than Ally pugs. TBC classic is heavily horde pvp reinforced, even more so than the original TBC.

AV after AV the Alliance gets more honor per game, I’m guessing a disproportionate amount of honor that is farmed happens in AV. AB, EotS, and WSG can be fun but they can also be absolutely dismal honor unless you are farming guaranteed premade wins quickly. So if anything Alliance on average is gaining honor faster than Horde.
I’m not making this Horde or Ally. Even with the faster que times for Ally, it’s still insanely low. We’re all in this crappy honor pool together. Ally just get out of the poop faster. Another perk to re-roll. right?
I’m legit almost at my breaking point. At some point an addict has to hit rock bottom so they can quit. I can almost feel that cold stone beneath my feet. SSC and TK won’t scratch my itch.
Buffing honor gains by 100-200% would be good for the game. The current values are not good for the game.

I’ve been grinding PVP gear as the meta for some tank items have shifted towards PVP gear in some slots. Its horrible; I don’t know if the costs of some things are incredibly steep, or just the lack of honor per game-- not to mention the que time for horde. Just feels bad. Want to keep playing this game but it’s sucking my soul (and my time) too much. Tempted to just shelf TBC till phase 2 comes out. Such a shame since I wouldn’t mind leveling alts or doing BG’s for alts either if gear/time required wasn’t so high. I am loving being in PVP- just want to feel like my time is making progress.
Haven’t bought a piece in over a month because they said they were going to reduce costs.
Not fun to sit on all these points, too afraid the next week after I spend they will reduce the costs without back-refunding people who already bought stuff.
Honestly I’d rather they just say that was a lie so I can buy crap rather than this twiddle my thumbs hoping something happens that might not even come.
Yea this exactly. The current grind is disgusting and not fun.

Stop AFKing and you’ll get more honor. Simple, really.

Current honor gains feel kind of bad sometimes but I feel it helps if I just don’t check honor till I’m done for the day.
I’ve been getting all my gear solely from PvP. I don’t really have it in me to do arena at this point so I’m on the honor grind. You can make progress but, damn, getting one to maybe 1.5 pieces a week feels very slow. Especially when you’re grinding out blue pieces. The purple pieces when I get to them might feel a little better. Currently I am at 4/5 HWL set. The WSG, EoTS, and AB marks are a ball buster. Grinding out 30 marks one loss at a time.
When you buy a piece and the next one is at 20k honor, that feels a long way away. If they were 5 to 10k that would be more manageable.
