PvP feels like it's in the worst state it has ever been in

they need to put together a darned pvp team to do balance/ map adjustments as seasons progress to handle power creep and stuff. i mean when was the last time they adjusted an epic bg map? like a decade or more ago? blah!

it was locked behind rating so it sucked for the average paying joe. It was beyond the worst experience ever for casual players.

I am an average joe and getting rating was stupid easy. Que up win get rating I think I lol’d to 1800 last season on three different toons. I mean if you wanna push for 2k+ then sure….maybe you have a minor point. But 1800 and below IS average joe territory and PvP has never been easier. Not a valid argument

The ladder is centered around 1500. With inflation, the average is somewhere around 1600.

If you’re easily hitting 1800 without much effort, you’re probably above average. Most players on the ladder won’t break 1800.

I think 2100 is the new 1800 and 1800 is the new 1600 homie

The ladder isn’t centered around 1800.

If you’re easily hitting 1800 with little effort, you’re in the top ~25%.

~75% players on the ladder won’t break 1800.

Yeah I mean 75% of players just dont even try. I literally didn’t try this season had a handful of games and didn’t even break 1600. So I get it. I’ve also put some effort in and played over 2k+ so it’s all relative. Not necessarily a skill thing but a time sink thing. Wows population has aged. New players need the one button kill everything mm hunters or they can’t get excited about it. I’m way off topic I better lay down before I hurt myself

how was ANY part of shadowlands gearing good… locking gear level behind rating? this isn’t an E sport no matter how hard blizzard pretends it is… pvp needs to go back to what it was supposed to be, battle’s not duals in a controlled arene.

Sl gearing was fantastic!! I did t play a single non rated game all xpac. Rated game play with bawlin! Intense games. I can’t help it if duelists and glads showed up in non rated blowing people up. PvP gear was bis even for pve! How can that not be awesome! What’s wrong with you

If you want rated fake inflated ego wow isn’t for you bud lol there plenty of other games that do it better. Wow does not do well with this rated stuff you can tell by how bad the game has gotten. also, SL gearing will never happen again thankfully even blizzard admitted it was extremely bad system.

As an average…and I mean average player, the gear being locked behind rating was even scarier when all I ever saw in chat was really good players selling wins for rated games. Combine this with the whole lfg system and I just decided to stay far away. Much easier to just Q

this was bad with them dropping and stuff too and streamers “selling” carries for follows it was a bad time in wow and thankfully it won’t ever happen again.

It was the purest PvP has been in a long time. No scaling or templates. Straight up damage it was fast and bursty. It was the best PvP since cata

You do not seriously think SL was better than MoP or Legion, surely.

Bursty like sniper shot lol. Jokes aside, Players of course will have their favorite PvP expansion. I know I do. It’s not the current trash that’s for sure.

Mop was similar to cata it was the last xpac before legion. Legion was the first step in trash PvP with templates

what are you even talking about lol even now is more bursty and bigger damage than ever.

And the latest issue with the epic BG Ashran is the other team just sitting in their base when they are losing a close game. This means the offensive team has to deal with all those guards or sit outside and wait.

Meanwhile the resources don’t move unless players die.

I spent about an hour in Ashran not long ago where we won by 10 points, but it was a miserable experience because of the near endless stalemate.

Here’s an idea. If a team capped and holds all the flags in the middle road of Ashran, they gain a couple of resources every minute. This will guarantee a victor rather than a stalemate by the side losing a close game. Heck, it might even promote some kind of strategy. Like the losing side going around and trying to recapture one of the other flags.

And if that’s too much, just put a regular 30 minute timer on it. Whoever is in the lead after 30 minutes wins. Again, this will break up the lame stalemate tactic by the losing side and force them to think of a different strategy to win.

Large scale instanced pvp is awful in this game.

I already mentioned the stalemate problem with Ashran.

Now I just played a southshore brawl. Our team was losing by like 30 points. So instead of dragging it on for a guaranteed loss, we decided to just suicide non stop till it ended faster.

Yea, great game design. A reward system that incentivizes epic bg matches to end faster when you are losing rather than stay and fight.

I managed to suicide almost 20 times in that BG. Granted, the first death was by natural causes, but the other 19 were all suicides to end the match faster.

What sucks is how easy it would be to tweak instanced pvp to be significantly more enjoyable with just a tiny bit of balance and effort.
