Got thrown into an in-progress losing WG with 35 mins on clock / bowed out / and literally all 13 of my toons that I qued were thrown into the same one…
Was just trying to get a fresh epic in before going to the office… no point in staying in a half chewed on loser… most mornings since the introduction of Ashran, and Classic, all I get are half chewed on epics when I que in the morning… has been a losing AShran in progress 98% of the time, losing WG 2 % of the time.
Have not had a fresh epic bg in the morning before work since the introduction of Ashran and Classic.
Coming to the conclusion that bg / pvp pop is dead. Used to have a chance at getting a toon in on a fresh one in the morning… not so these days.
And at nite - has been the same pattern, only I give up after queing 5-6 toons that get thrown into the same in-progress losing ashran.
Means there is not enough population qued for there to be a fresh epic going on… this all started once ashran, and even moreso once classic started.
Not a rant, just an observation

Yea, Horde queue times for epics range from 20-30min. Not the least bit shocked you were thrown into the same bg.
Alliance win rates have massively tanked in epic BGs this expansion so it’s likely the participation pool has fallen off hard. When your faction is already a minority, this doesn’t leave much to work with.

At least your 20-30 minute wait guarantees you a win. We can spend 4 or 5 hours every day for 5 days and not see a win. I have yet to see a win this week and only won once last week.

You greatly over estimate the horde’s pvp prowess.
We doing all our pvp in classic now
Cant speak for WG (but i will assume the same) I believe most of the community hates Ash. For me personally it is the sole reason i stopped cuing for 40 mans. If they remove it numbers will come back up
I enjoyed the original version of Ashran, though I hated getting into groups that wanted to AFK in the basement for half an hour to rack up the buff.
The epic BG version needs to find some way to incorporate the mini games or it’s just a shell of what it once was. Also, having the Song Flowers and Earth Shields only on the Horde side of the map with absolutely nothing on the Alliance side to even the odds needs to be adjusted asap.
I love BGs.
For whatever reason most of the BGs I used to join were filled with people who didn’t want to be there. Refuse to play objectives. Crap about in mid all game just losing for little honor.
I’m sick of it. You get about 1 decent, competitive BG for every 10 queued and the rest are a miserable waste of time. They made me angry.
I’m playing PVP server in Classic and it’s miles better than a retail BG in every way. Even in the open world people band together to kill invaders with barely any communication required. It’s clear what has to be done and your faction does it.
If you want to have a better BG population, play properly so people are happy to be in them with you. Until then, I’m out.

I wonder what would happen if everyone that PVP’d stayed in their matches?

Honestly … those 40 man BGs are total Trash. What i will never understand, as to why Blizzard makes BGs where the sole purpose lies in 2 big zergballs to roll towards each other … and that"s it.
Like Alterac Valley could be so cool, if they would try to disperse people, encourage them to not run in a big group but if there would be enough Missions that keep them busy and one can enjoy some small fights. Before Alterac Valley had you collect stuff, Tame something … there where multiple ways to participate towards the common goal.
Now all that is there is Protect your 4 Towers and Take the Enemies 4 Towers … oh yeah and Graveyards.
Then there is Isle of Conquest … which is exactly the same thing. You got one Base, yeah there are 3 ways to exit … but in most cases now everything runs Hangar … and the side winning that wins.
Ashran … oh good Naaru Ashran. First the performance problems with it … and then they took only the Road in. In WoD there where allot side events, to earn Conquest. Now that BG is one big Zergarama …
The best is for the Quest Storming the Battlefields they kinda forcefully nudge you to win one of those epic Failures.

Like usual you’re wrong.
There’s plenty of world PvP, just no reward system yet.

I like large scale battles. People have the option for arena and normal bg. I don’t like arena, but I am glad it is the for people who like quick battles.
I think if i played a ranged DPS or perhaps a rogue i would have a different perspective. But as a melee its pretty miserable and their servers can seem to handle the load of that many people. My latency stays around 24ms and yet i get crazy freezes and lag when in have been in there.
Ya I am not even sure what melee do in Ashran . Sitting ducks for the AOE bombardment by Range.
Edit:- It’s no fun for range either.

On my last (and final) time in Ash i went arms… every 1 min i would HL in CS+BS then HL out. … unless melee decided to push into the back ranged i twiddled my thumbs
I don’t often do this, but in blizzard’s defense, it’s the community’s fault for doing so by maximizing honor/cq per hour.
Ash and AV work way better without the reenforcment system, and still have alot of their uniqueness in terms of gameplay design still in place, but then you’d have tons of people complaining games take too long.
It’s entirely our fault that 40 man epics play out like this as we enabled the zergers.

I don’t think it’s the community’s fault that Blizzard implemented the Reinforcement system.
That Reinforcement system is in place, so if the BG results in a zerg … said zerg doesn’t last until eternity, because in theory in Alterac Valley after all 4 towers on both side are down … you can still defend your Leader there … for hours. And i was in such AVs.
Thats a little Harder to do in Isle of Conquest as the enemy faction can take your graveyard easier then in AV(Blizzard seemed to actually learn something …!).
But what is our fault as Community is the Strategies that result out of the changes. Like i didn’t run allot AVs in BfA … but it seems Horde loves to defend the furthest forward Tower they have. They are always with 5+ in there(at least the ~5 times i did do AV).
And of course the Alliance is only rushing forward … and not trying to retake towers.
