Pve-pvp transfer/faction transfer - im stuck

To take the discussion away from LFD for a while, is there any word on the removal of pve to pvp server transfer restrictions or faction transfers yet?

Believe both were a thing in original wrath.

I am stuck on the only PvE server in my region, which is low population and heavily alliance dominated, with me being on horde. Currently, i cannot transfer off the server due to there being no destination servers (only pve server in the region), and cannot transfer to the dominant faction.

I dont care about faction balance being on a pve server, my only concern is a healthy economy and group/raids, neither of which is good where i am. No doubt my fellow hordies feel the same.

I would be happy with either the server transfer restriction being lifted so i can transfer to a higher pop pvp server in my region, or faction transfer so i can transfer to the faction on my server with a much healthier population.

Really hope that is something planned so myself and others in the same situation have options for a good wrath experience

Not happening.

At least not until CataClassic.

Based on what information?

My crystal ball.

It doesn’t look like this will happen. Your best bet will be to use the 70 boost on a new server.

not going to redo my rep grind, r14, mounts, etc.

im emotionally attatched to my character and no therapy can fix that

What good is having all that if you can’t play the game because you’re stuck on a minority faction server?

Because it was in original tbc.

Because it was the right thing to do then and its the right thing to do now.

Server populations are already screwed.

PvP servers outside of grobb are effectively PvE

Not as much as they would make with faction, and race change.

$25 bucks dude quit being cheap and move. Stop asking for freebies. I always laugh when I see someone say but ma R14. They handed those out like candy in classic. Any scrub could get one and I’m sure being on whatever low pop server you are on it was even easier to obtain. Grats to you.

I know I read it on one of the articles they said no to PVE to PVP and no faction change right now. But they can always do it if they want to.

Yup. Never to be repeated until they did away with the PvE/PvP designations, if I recall correctly.

You do not recall correctly. In MoP I transfered from Blackwater Raiders (a RP-PVE server), to Emerald Dream (a RP-PVP server).

When was Warmode released?

Edit: Ah, it was in BfA.

Correct. I don’t remember when the transfer restrictions were lifted, but it was either Cata or MoP.

This sucks for you, and the concern is totally valid.

You were definitely correct to make a thread. Maybe they’ll lift the PVE > PVP thing in Wrath? People keep asking for that, and it makes them money, so maybe.

I’d say reroll an alt for now since it’s not a bad time to do so, and hope for the best later, but ultimately it’s your call.

There’s no point in saying “$25 will fix this - you’re being cheap” when an OCE player wants to stay in their region and they’re on the only PVE server. That’s at the level of not even paying attention.

I actually transferred both factions changed and character transferred from a PVE server to a PVP server in Wrath. So all of this could definitely be done.

During pre-patch, maybe, not during Wrath.

I found this from 2008, there were other articles too:
Blizzard to Allow PvE to PvP Server Transfers | WIRED

I’m not meaning to argue here and was more sharing a memory. The OP is in a tough spot of having to transfer to the NA, pay for a boost, or reroll so I feel for him.
