That’s kind of irrelevant. Announcing it’s time-limited also makes it to where it drove sales of WoW tokens for more people to get it before removal. There’s no prestige around having the mount to me, because I’m doubting that most people actually worked to get gold in game. If you did, that’s cool, I’m glad you think they should “bring it back for a limited time” so everyone can put in the effort that you did. However, it would just be a large portion of the people getting it “legitimately” would be people selling Mythic/M+ runs or the like, and everyone else would just be on the WoW token train, so it’s literally no different than the store mount.
Most people who got the brutosaur in BFA bought tokens to do it, the achievement of earning 5m gold was always imaginary and will continue to be so forever into the future.
No… we really did make that much by the end and bought it legit. Not a single token used.
Grats. Like I said before, no one can take that accomplishment away from you. But–and this is an important but–very few players who see you with that mount are going to be impressed. Many will think you bought it with tokens. Most won’t care that you have it. At. All.
Let me repeat: No one really cares.
But other people having either that mount, or the shop mount, doesn’t diminish what you did in the game to buy your mount. It doesn’t change what you did. Only in your own head does the shop mount make a difference. Let it go. Have the self confidence to not care what other people have or how they got it. You’ll be a whole lot happier.
The difference is, these take skill to get, the others are mindless farming.
Are you most people, or are you you?
I had bruto for six years now I have a mailbox mount I’m good.
You still have your Brutosaur, it’s bigger than the store-bought one, so just view it as an in-game achievement that not everyone was able to pull off.
Blizzard have used re-colours ever since they introduced mounts, why does it upset you that they haven’t stopped?
I look dimly on this mount, but not remotely for the OP’s reason, lol. Trying to think of a less sympathetic reason to be mad about the Gilded Brutosaur and I’m drawing a blank.
All i remember in SL, was people with AH mount , mount up and when someone came to use it they would run away, this is what u guys get
It’s only impressive to see people with those mounts and achievements during the expansion they were part of. That said, Blizzard should’ve never removed the original Brutosaur.
People who farmed the mission tables with multiple alts and/or attempted to control the Auction House would’ve still obtained said mount years ahead of the “average player.”
It’s not though. If you got the OG version, all the more glory for you.
i will say though, as someone that owns 2 pantsloads of FOMO goodies, i’d be happy to see older stuff that i earned coming back to people to get.
Blizzard has been negating people’s efforts for awhile now. The message they send is to not bother working for anything.
oh please what entitlement. People never paid 5 million for those mounts so the community could use them, nor did blizzard expect people to ‘share’ them.
provide a source for this claim.
I don’t know if most would be appropriate but there would be a non-zero number of whales who would have had no problem dropping over $600 for it or however much to make up the difference of what they had.
Of course there’s no solid statistic to say how many people bought tokens or illegitimate gold for it but 5 million was well out of the ballpark for any player that did not go out of their way to farm gold.
Them caring isn’t the point. Maybe all you care about is superficial prestige, but that’s not the point for me. The point is the erosion of the integrity of the game.
Yea, well now everyone has them
Why do people like OP believe they should be able to clout chase indefinitely? Its so incredbibly sad. I’d say pathetic but I’d get a timeout.
When did I ever say I gave a fig about any so-called “prestige?” You’re the one who is coming off like that matters to you:
And this is just nonsense:
What has a mount got to do with integrity? If Blizz put 700ilvl gear on the shop, that would be an “erosion of integrity.” Mounts are purely cosmetic. If you did something to earn one, great. Recolors don’t, and never will, change what you did.
We have a fundamental disagreement here, and I don’t see it changing. You are offended that people can easily obtain a mount that looks similar to one you feel you worked hard for. I think what other people have (or don’t have) doesn’t change my enjoyment of what I’ve done in the game, or my enjoyment of the game in general.
Blizzard isn’t going to stop what they’ve been doing no matter how much you don’t like it. Your choice is to either accept that, or stop playing the game. Personally, I think you’d be happier just being satisfied with how things are. You worked hard for your Brutosaur. Other people who have the same model ponied up a bunch of cash for theirs. I feel like if anyone should be annoyed, it should be them because they paid waaaay more than $90. Be happy you weren’t one of them.
Yeah, “coming off like” is just an opinion. Everyone dove in on this with a boatload of assumptions. I see people really think through this stuff through before they unload on it, lol. But as I said before, recolor glad and AotC mounts and put them in the trading post and then we can talk.
